The pedalsystem was designed by Ludy Beumer from Holland, here we had to have pedals on mopeds in those days. But why does this english fizzy has them? Didn't you have footrests on those back in the day?
i hada purple 76 in 1978 skimmed head altered disc valve HUGE exhaust port big jets 37 rear sprocket and a wrong side chrome allspeed 60 on the flat 70 down hill what fun we had, did ride a fat boy harley with all the loud bits on it , only other bike made me grin like the fizped
Ten-a-penny they were back in my youth circa 1977 and yet the prices they fetch now are staggering.
This is a fine example of a bike that was thrashed to within an inch of its life by every teenager who owned one, back in its day... ha ha
I even worked with a lad who thought nothing of skimming the head every weekend trying to up the compression and squeeze more out of it. Needless to say it didn't last long... ha ha
I put the Yb100 engine in mine..back in the 80s long gone now :-( It was quicker than a restricted DTLC 125 ...75 was easy top end, power wheelies and cruise all day at 60. Unless you want to keep it very original the 100 engine is the way to go..it looks good too.
Now that's what I call a proper vid' of a Fizz, the sound, the views...Ahhh, just loved this! You obviously understand the loss we all feel for our old peds!
Hats off to whoever restored your fizzie its a beauty. We were always trying to make these bikes go faster taking the head off once a week to decoke it , same with the baffles. mine was a red ap50 reg unk42r one of the last to be restricted technically it was an a50pb. only one person beat me in a race he was from a rich family and bought a 70cc conversion kit. Ive never forgot that flash bas...d may you rot in hell.Lovely fizzie though.
Cheers, the man who restored it came from Bristol and has done quite a few. I had a SS50 Honda and KTM Comet Cross when I was 16, my friend had a late AP and it was quick. :-) Anth.
The FIZZY was the ultimate trapping birds machine to have, there were allsorts ov sports mopeds around 1973-1980 there were gileras, tourer, enduro, trails, garellis, Malaguttis, Cimmattis, Suzuki, Honda. Puch MS50, but the king of sixteener specials as i had back in 1975 was a Yamaha SS50 pre FS1E a proper ped, mine did 60mph ont flat blah blah blah, watch the short film fizzy days on here the trailer and parts 1,2,3, wot a screem and memorie blast from the past a very funny 39min film
1977 I lived in a village this machine liberated me. WOW what a trip down memory lane. Birds... booze... disco's ..CUD 87R I still remember the reg. Thanks for the posting. Darn thing never held the road when pissed tho but you could straighten the forks between your legs like a push bike. Bloody brilliant.
I had the earlier Yamaha SS50 great little machine . Just a bit of trivia they were only called FS1E in UK rest of the world it was the FS1 the E stood for England as this was the only country that required the ellaborate pedalling assembly. ,My mate had a Garelli Rekord that used to give him electic shocks thru the switchgear when it rained . Funny as fuck you'd see his hand fly off the handle bars when it shocked him I'd ride behind laughing my arse off !!
Yea Yea Yea all you guys with your puch's your Garelli tiger cross's your AP 50's, you know you all really wanted a fizzy. Except you lot on ss50's who were told by your dad to buy a good old 4 stroke. OH Happy Days
You talking about the big yellow ones with three hand gears and pedal back brake?
What did you do to it to make it go 60. My mate had an M50 (the big red ones) 4 speed foot gears that did 45mph and another friend had a Grand Prix and that would get just over 50mph.
I live in North Carolina, I grew up in England. They had Fizzies here, but they were called something else YG1 or something similar. They were not popular here like in the UK. You can drive a car at 16 here. A lot of states let you ride a moped at 14, but then they have to be automatic.
i have one and im 16 :) paid 300 quid for it looks and sounds much better than all these crappy peds and faster also has put me in good stead for a bigger bike
I ended going back to my retro roots and bought a Kawasaki ZRX1200,i do have a Suzuki A100 bucket racer which looks pretty cool.I should post some vision on UTUBE.love the smell of two strokes.Bay City Rollers,Alvin Stardust, and Fizzys, great memories.
Saw lots when we lived in Croydon, kids at school had them at St Marys high school, then came to Australia, never saw them out here.I did have a YB100 though.Fizzy looks really cool no wonder i wanted one.
