this is a load of elitist pish looking at scotland through tartan tinted specs. those eejits in that hall don't represent scotland but are just a desirable image that folk with money want to project. if you want to see true scotland, look out for a blootered bloke pishing in the street outside his home, look at foul-mouthed football fans, men at work sites and school kids playing football as there's f'k all to do here. no this lot with poles rammed up their arses
Well I dunno where you come from but Inverness is not like that.
Sure, Scotland has its rough bits but then so does everywhere! Do you really think that Scotland wants to celebrate its failures? This is just culture, so the west end is a wee bit up its own arse oh well :P
Calm down mate, I think the one with something up their arse is you, and it sounds like it's sharp and thorny :/
But that's just what Burns was talking about. Burns knew poverty. Burns knew that suffering transcends borders. But he also knew that, through war, tyranny, death and desperation; that simple humanity: that undeniable and unchanging dignity that makes sense of the unforgiving world, gives us our place, and from whence all joy and pain comes, is the greatest wealth of them all.

aye, it's a good point you make. i do think ads like this are bilous but i suppose scotland means different things to different people.
i'm kinda changing my tune a little here as i think the whole point of the homecoming scotland is a good idea - to get folk coming over here.
my post was 2 months ago, maybe it was the winter season that made me feel ultra-cynical!
i'm actually from the south of scotland and in the summer it's great and i do feel proud when tourists come to enjoy it here

I know exactly what you mean :), January is not the best time for being cheery :)

ahhahaha hahaha funny as fuck
i sortae agree wi you pal. but theres many scotlands in this nation.
it appears that one of them (the less socially advantaged one) has lost many of its traditions. come to think of it, we've all lost our traditions.
I despair.
