  • wtf kinda list is that?

    your list haha

  • where is that Oasis performance at? 5:06?

  • @Fenderkicksass Glastombury 1994

  • Oasis is the best band ever man-

  • That girl being fotographed looks sad when their ajusting her hair

:s I just want to wrap her in a blanket and hugg her to let her know she's a person, not an ornament... Thats what i hate about Loaded... You cant really believe the girls in it are people...

  • Never really considered Oasis to be Britpop, they just existed at the same time..

  • Cockney art student bastards.

  • how can you say blur are anywhere near as good as oasis, oasis ave been around for at least 15 years, always up there until recently with all this RnB bollox, where are blur? been doing comeback gigs, need i say more? Oasis!!! Oasis!!! Oasis!!!

  • fucking good of you to say that, blur aint nothing than Oais, oasis is the best band forever

  • down down deeper down lmfao

  • I think this ducomentary is interesting in highlighting why Oasis don't actually belong under the heading Britpop.

Britpop was poppy music, sly, subversive lyrics, and androgynous looks. Themed around sexuality and dissatifaction with middle-class existence. Extremely southern

Oasis music is gritty rock, straight-forward, simple lyrics and sentiments, and straight-up lad culture. Themed around working class struggles and dreams. Extremely northern

  • fuck oasis, BLUR is the best

  • BLUR are pure bollocks, there songs are wank and are soft southern cunts

Oasis are an annoying bunch, and Liam's voice is just as bothersome as his persona. The Smiths were and remain the greatest Manchester band to have ever emerged, and whilst Blur is by no means the greatest much better than the bore of Oasis!

  • @Lunatic4Bizcas Te voy a romer la cabeza

  • @tombinoarg : How could the narrator even compare The Jam and The Specials with 'Oasis!?' Oasis was and remains nothing, but a commercial gimmick for the British press to fill a vacuum of wanting to represent supposed 'Britishness' in the mid 90's. The Jam, The Specials, and Oasis are nothing alike actually. Each band had their own influences revealed in their particular styles. The Specials are one of the greatest Ska bands of all time. The Jam are one of the greatest Brit bands ever!

  • @tombinoarg : Seriously, Oasis are seriously outclassed by both The Jam and The Specials. Paul Weller > than the Gallagher brothers. The Jam, The Clash, The Cure, The Smiths, The Stone Roses, Echo & The Bunnymen, XTC, Elvis Costello & The Attractions, The Style Council, Madness, P.I.L, Joy Division, New Order, Depeche Mode, Radiohead, Supergrass, Fields of the Nephilim and even 'The Addicts' were and are great British bands. Oasis doesn't even make the list in my book.

  • @Lunatic4Bizcas fuck off

  • Then by all means, explain to me what makes Noel Gallagher 100 times better. I look forward to this :)

  • its the most stupid and immature comment I've ever read... you might be the one who has a dick stuck in there, and you should respect other opinions, not becase you don't like something is necesary to say that shit. and why oasis is still doing songs? cause copying is easier than creating new songs. oasis is good, but all songs are the same. you're like comparing a multifunctional with a printer !!

  • I honestly understand why people compare Noel Gallagher to Damon Albarn in terms of songwriting. There is no comparison at all. Damon Albarn is a far superior songwriter. Its that simple.

  • At the end of the day I love Blur and Oasis! Many happy memories of the 90's music scene!

  • I dont see how people put Blur on the same level as Oasis, Parklife and Theres No Other Way are brilliant, but thats 2 decent songs that Blur have written versus 200 brilliant songs Oasis have written.

  • lmao blur only hav 2 decent songs?? u must b joking blur hav fucking a great range of songs a great range of albums while oasis do have good & two good albums which is there two most comercial LOL all oasis have done have stuck to the same mid 90's stuff while blur have moved on

  • Yeah most of oasis' songs use the same chord progressions over and over again... and mostly rip off the beatles they sound just like a modern version of them. Blur are they're own and thats why they're better they don't need to hid behind anybody to achieve success. Their songs speak for themselves :-)

  • my god, when you people are going to learn music isn't about comparing?

"the battle of britpop"? c'mon, this was invented by the press.

i mean, of course there are better musicians than others, but if someone likes other thing it's ok you are not going to change it saying NONO, OASIS IS BETTER. and i'm saying this as a truely oasis fan who likes blur.

  • I like Blur & Oasis, neither is shit. Damon and Noel are both musical genius'.

  • Robbie was actually still in Take That when he joined Oasis onstage at Glasto.

  • oasis are listed with the greates bands of all time and thats that ..

listen to don't look back in anger , live forever , the turning ..

    and you'll agree

  • and they don't even mention The Verve which started the whole northern revival much before Oasis....stupid journalist cockbreathes

  • Haha, "CHECK-FUCKING-THEM OUT!".

  • oasis are god mate, in 2001 every fucker in london was listning to mornin glory.

  • in 2001? haha you must have been 6 years too late.

  • It's now 2009. I'm an American. And guess which album I still listen to more than any other. Oasis first THREE albums (include 'Be Here Now') were money. Everything since then has been a little repetitive (although 'SOTSOG' had some good tunes). 'Def Maybe' and 'Morning Glory' especially will live forever if you're a music fan.

  • Could'nt agree more thenextnoelgallagher Oasis have produced mediocre albums since standing on shoulder of giants. Personally their best album was be here now

  • in 2001? haha you must have been 6 years too late.

  • Yes indeed. A very intelligent 'critique'.

What happened, I guess was that Blur inadvertently 'invented' the lad thing, and then some 'real lads' came along.

    Alot of roundheads. Great!!!!!

  • nah mate more like 1995 - 96 every one was listenin to morning glory

  • we still listen to it bro.

    every day.

  • so by evrey fucker in london you meant you lol

  • maybe:)

oasis is the shit. and that you canot argue with.

  • It's very odd for me to hear a man say "We admitted we fancied women". Sexual politics are so different in America than in Britain. There's always been a lot of he-man-heterosexual posing going on here that I guess is (or was) absent in other cultures. Interesting.

  • not really. I spose it was just the Thatcher type thing where Nuts, FHM, etc were considered part of the beery football-fan builder stereotype, like you were crass or stupid.

  • I see. That's still very different from how it is in America. Substitute American football for real football and you've got the archetype of the much cherished "All-American boy". I can't remember a time where the general consensus wasn't that being a beer-guzzling, tit-obsessed knockaround guy made you a "real man". Those qualities are worshiped here.

  • to be fair, this docu had a lot more suede and elastica than most on Britpop.

  • I disagree. You can say a lot of things about Noel Gallagher, but you can't say his songs lack imagination. I think Oasis just weren't/aren't as pretentious as those other bands and didn't give a shit about being "different".

  • you're telling me in 2001 every man in london was walking around wearing a hipster mullets like liam was?

  • Don't know what they were doin' in London in 2001 as I've never set foot there. Love Liam, but I could give two shits about what hairstyle he was wearing whenever.

  • LOL

  • Which actually made them stand out.

Everyone else wanted to fit the music business, Oasis just genuinely did what they wanted. It portrayed a sense of youth and freedom, hope even. As well as the feelings in beautiful songs like Cast no Shadow, Don't Go Away etc etc etc which overlapped with that, sometimes contrasting. As Cast no Shadow is completely hopeless and miserable. Only the sad live versions by Noel of Wonderwall do the song justice (I feel) on a "beautiful" sort of scale.

  • "I disagree. You can say a lot of things about Noel Gallagher, but you can't say his songs lack imagination. I think Oasis just weren't/aren't as pretentious as those other bands and didn't give a shit about being 'different'"

    Exactly. good comment roosterspur86
