Imperium and Eldar are the 2 races they have announced you can play as. Of course, Chaos and Orks will also be in the game, as it wouldn't be 40k without them. The question then is what about tyranids, tau, dark eldar, necrons and the inquisition. Only time will tell. Wish they would make an Eldar trailer!

Imperial guards, if tey chose to be pure in the name of the emperor, they become space marines and then become grey knights. If they chose to be not, then they will become chaos space marines and become demons. Either space marines win. Btw no eldars? Tau's? Necrons?

Probably playable factions will be space marine and chaos space marine, and mayby orks. Guards ,heretics ,demons and titans cen be only enemis to defet, not to play. That what I think.

@EkonBor That might be what they do, but lore wise I believe Space Marines are made, genetically and technologically altered, so I dont think normal people can get "Upgraded" to space marines, well just have to wait till they release the specifics to know how progressing in hte Imperium will happen.

Pretty sure you are completely off the mark there - if you see virtually ANY of the codexes, it states that marines are recruited from human worlds - Blood Angels recruit primarily from Baal, Dark Angels recruit from all over (due to the fact that their homeworld was destroyed) etc... Basically marines join, get "upgraded" to neophytes (space marine scouts), then progress from there.

MANY people die from being altered into space marines, but the Lore is all there for it.

@hammyhamm oh, I thought being a space marine was something u did from birth not something any guy can do...either way, I think they might have them as seperate classes, as the Imperial Guard had massive vehicles, and Space Marines had vehicles but normally acted as Infantry, I know at least that much, since Space Marines are vehicles in their own right lol

The imperial guard character could get som artillery/airstrike support, and some more sneaky abilities than the space marine, I think it would work. Also I don't think you would be a simple guardsman, but probably a stormtrooper in that case. Pretty much the same point-wise in codexes.

Just how the hell do they plan to balance puny guardsmen with Marines? At least if they were Skitarii, it could be more plausible, but those looks like regular weedy Cadians to me.

@jmcfar8947 i dunno looks like they may dump the idea of tanks and healing and go the route of a 3rd person shooter, and make marines tough sobs with a toolbox of usable weapons and a talent tree for what they can learn, meanwhile the guardsmen will probably be things like stormtroopers with their toolbox and specialties being different , this also leaves room for thinks like standard psykers , tech priests , librarians , chaplins etc

They're races in a faction. DAoC and WAR had the same thing - several races to a faction, and each race had a couple of classes unique to it.

From a purist's perspective, it would've been much better to limit players to the IG - but of course the MarineSues are much more of a crowdpleaser. Still looks interesting, but I really doubt that the atmosphere can stand the attitude of today's gamers.
