Also there is the emission issue so it is easier to give up than to fight. But we have not given up yet. I believe taht one day it will be able to be driven on the road again. After all it is an historic truck. At the end it would be only matter of time and money. There will be a lot of work to do but as you said it is worth it. By the way I listen to "ABBA". They still rock
Hello again, thank you very much for the information. I did not know the names. We have a 1971 Volvo N-86. We are the first owner. It has now 750,000 KM but it has been off the road for over 10 years since my Dad passed away. It may not worth much money wise but we have strong feelings for it. After all that truck has feed me and my brothers. I am thinking about restoring it sometimes. And maybe one day when I have my own kids I will take them for a ride at the same truck that my dad took me.
Hello there, I can not say that the Volvo is in very good shape but still compare to it's age it is ok. My brothers start it once in a while but noone really took it for a real ride on the road. You see, since it is an old truck and has been off the road for many years now we lost the "right" to drive it on the road. To bring it up again the government give us hard time. The want us to take to have frame inspected and all kind of stories you will not believe.
Yes, you are right. I do remember the N-88. It had a bigger engine and also turbo. I remember that it had the air filter coming out next to the passenger door. My parents always spoke about how much they should have gotten the N-88 but did not have enough money to buy it. Are there any Volvo trucks from that year still around? After all they Volvo is made in your country.
Don't worry, if you like Scania more than Volvo I would not hold it against you. I will restore the Volvo someday. As I said it has a big value for me. I don't know if you have it in your country but some bastard have tried in the past to steal our Volvo truck in order to sell it to a metal factory. But we caught them on time. Bastards.
Aqui no BRASIL existem muitos SCANIA 111S, 6cc,LK 140,LK 141,R 142,V8,ainda dão duro nas estradas!!!!

Hello, any idea what year and model is that camo Volvo? We have a 1971 N-86 volvo and it is still kicking. It has 750,000 KM on it.
adamsv1000 4 years ago
Hello. It´s a Viking 4x4 offroad truck. Maybee 1964!? Built for the Swedish army.
Have a nice day.

Really? the truck that we see on 1:00 is Viking? Looks like Volvo.
adamsv1000 4 years ago
Yes. Volvo Viking, Viking is the model, it was later replaced by Volvo N86.
The bigger model Volvo Titan was replaced by Volvo N88.
Volvo had a lot of models, likes Titan, Viking
Brage, trygge, Raske, Snabbe...
Scania had Regent and Drabant.
Hasta la vista.

Hello. Yes keep the truck and restore it.
I have restored a Scania L36 truck and some tractors. You can see it here on youtube, it´s a lot of work but it´s worth it.
Are the truck very rusty?

Yes I agree, it´s a lot of regulations about everyting. It´s the same story in Sweden.
But here are cars and trucks older than 30 years free from "road-tax" ,always someting.

There are some trucks left, but they use salt on the roads during the winter. And salt is not the best for cars and trucks.
I have repaired an old N86 for some years ago.
The Volvo N models are cool trucks but I likes Scania better.
Repair the "N86" and show it here on youtube.
Have a nice day
