I'm not big on group rides.. There's a time that and it must be done.. That 5 group brake we did was a blast . But Friday morning was a FKen Blast .. Just sucks I didn't have any room on my SD Card for that run..:) ...Ride Your Own Ride Peoples... See you Y'all next year...
A small rabbit (< 4lbs) would bust your ankle no problem.
As for me riding on Chuck's ass... Yeah, I paid for that on one ride where I went over the double yellow to avoid entry into same.
During this bit of ride you are recording, I am in top gear and barely touching throttle. I don't like braking in curves, but clearly I had more than enough traction available to do so due to lack of lean.
I don't remember a road hazard as we were going so slow.
When we were coming back from lunch and 5-6 of us were out screaming ahead of everyone I was braking in the middle of corners at 70+ mph. You've always got enough traction to brake in a corner, you just have to have enough skill to know how hard you can hit the brakes. Keep living by the "you can't brake in a corner, there's not enough traction" and you're going to keep blowing through double yellows and going off the side of the road.
I said I don't like braking in curves. I do it all the time, whether it's simple engine braking or whether I actually get on the brakes.
Trail braking is something I will do when I'm feeling spirited on a solo run. On a more relaxed ride, I've done my braking before the corner and I'm on the throttle again.
There were a few times riding with this group where my timing was just all off. I couldn't find my groove at all. I don't know why.
this is a clever video, looks like fun being in agroup that big as well :D, whenever we ride we argue over whos leading and whos following cos we both shun responsibility and want the easier job..you dandillion vandal!
ha...yeh we rarely do, snowy has a map of a certain franchise of hotels locations..so thats helpfull, and i have a freebie guide to highways, although we cant drive on those with our license type.. :D
Like I said, these vids are good. I like the discussion about group riding fundamentals. It still amazes me how many people don't incorporate basic skills into their riding more. I think ppl leave training & forget everything they were taught, only to fall into bad habits. Like, say ppl getting herd mentality on group rides, completely forgetting u must ride ur own ride at all times ;-)
I've sub'd to some kids in Cali because I know I'll see some good crashes sooner or later :-o ;-)
Haha, sad but true. A lot of it is simply lack of experience with groups. I know a lot of the guys there never really ride with groups, which leads to them not knowing how.
That's why I've recently posted that MSGROUP link on my channel page fairly prominently - but still in an understated manner ;-)
That site is great, plus it has so many riding fundamentals listed in an easy to navigate sorta way - even group riding tips are prominently placed. And best of all it's free for all to benefit from. I've noticed for a long time in motovlogging, from it's earliest days in fact, much ignorance about solid riding skills & fundamental about MC dynamics :-o ;-)
I was riding so close to at times that I had to ride staggered to keep from slamming into you, plus riding staggered helps me to keep from target fixating on the rider in front.
I noticed. You guys were doing fine behind me, imo, I was intentionally doing the same behind Fud because he was being fairly unpredictable. Hard on the brakes at times, not at others, all over the lane...was wierd.
I like to follow my own line. But in this group, I was going so darn slow! It just wasn't working for me. OTOH, when I was behind Ike, he was going like a bat out of hell even two up. He got me on the edge of my comfort zone. All the screeching was coming from me, not my tires.
Riding your own line is fine, when it's safe. Consistently running up someones ass and having to slam on the brakes isn't safe, and riding in an unpredictable manner with people behind you isn't safe.
There's no formation riding on the dragon unless people are just going REALLY slow. This isn't the dragon, btw.
Yeah, yours is on the back. I wasn't sure how wide-angle the gopro wide is so I put it up front, wanted to make sure I was in the frame. Now that I know I think I could easily use yours on the front too.
These vids are making miss having a big more and more. Had a Shadow VT1100 and sold it in Jan. thinking I was going to turn around and buy another one right away. Oops bills came up and I didn't get a chance to. Hopefully next year I will be back on two wheels. Thanks for the great vids.

The double pip is very cool. All I need to do that is a third camera, some new editing software, and a tutorial!

Get Vegas and I can tell you how to do it, it's actually pretty easy.

Final Cut Express will let you do as many PiPs as you like ;-)

If nothing else, being unpredictable keeps people from riding too close behind me! ;-)
I don't have an explanation as to why I was so close to Chuck other than what I've already said. It is not my habit to tail gate.

Where's my gopro? The one on the back?
I would think that everyone would be doing single file for most of the dragon, maybe staggered for long straights only.
