i just bought to archer fish they are 2 days old and only one of them is eating and the other one is, i also hav a arowana but he doesnt even bother them help.
Also Archerfish are not very aggressive at all. They tend to leave other fish alone unless they are big enough to fit in their mouths. I keep three large ones with Discus and Silver dollars and they get on fine. For those concerend about the different water needs of those kinds of fish I keep the PH neutral at 7 to keep all happy.
Archerfish can live in Fresh, Brackish and Marine. They usually spend adulthood in estuaries where the salinity changes all the time. They return to freshwater to spawn. My Archers are pretty big and don't mind freshwater. i do add a small amount of aquarium salt, but not marine salt. Archerfish have been successfully bred in Freshwater tanks. although this is rare.
for all you retards outthere, brackish water is just freshwater with about 1 tablespoon of salt for every 5 gallons. Archerfish are able to live in any type of water but preferr brackish. for those who think you cant have any other fish, you can also have pufferfish in there too. they are very easy to maintain. both of these fish do best with a 50+ gallon tank. A 38 tank would work but to keep the fishes stress free, you want 50 or more gallons.
great tank! is that s 38 gallon tank u have? i have a 38, and i was woundering if i could have some angel fish and an archor together? is that possible?
I think they're mildly agressive, in the yellow on the scale most stores use. Theres one for sale at our local pet store for 25 bucks. I'm thinking about getting it =)
only few fish stores around my place carries them, the fact that u dont see them much around is that becuz their brackish water..wich means mix of fresh n slat water, thats hard to maintain..and plus u wouldnt be able to mix any other fish with them thats why u hardly see them around..
not always true brackish is very easy to maintain if anything if the tanks dips into freshwater ranges the fish are not going to go into shock unlike salt water/ marine
i had 2 archers called bill and bob, they died from a mysterious substance that made the tank stink but the water appeared fine!

Archerfishies are cute and they're cool! It looks like your lil fishies are swimming near the surface waiting to see if there's anything to spit at!
If you could get some footage of these lil guys spitting at something and eating them that'd be wonderful! It's amazing to watch!
