u must not know much about new sport bikes if you think that. look up the 2010 reviews in the 1000cc category. they compared 8 bikes and the r1 got 5th overall but it was the slowest of them all. the reviewed bikes were: yamaha r1, honda cbr1000, ducati 1198, bmw s1000rr, kawasaki zx-10r, suzuki gsxr, ktm rc8, and aprilia rsv4. the bmw dominated cuz it currently is the fastest production bike in the world in that category.
