No. I tnink they just hadn't got the brakes off!. The guy on the ground should have radioed him to stop. In the worst case scenario he should have pulled the strings on the wagons to release the brakes.

so, the wagons was heavy, and the brakes on them was not off? Or they didn't released the brake on the wagons?

whoa ! wheel slip is like this... because I have experience once on cab ride from Taiping - Bukit Berapit - Padang Rengas section for KTMB. It was the 24 Class similiar to SRT's Alsthom engine.
