  • does the disk need to be spinning?

  • THAT TASKBAR IS AS BIG AS MY PENIS

  • @blackbird309 Cool story, bro.

  • what song is that!!!!!!!

  • what name of this song??

  • Ali B. - Rampeneren

  • Thanks so much! :D

  • what's the song???"????

  • 0:01 ot 0:18, the beeping sounds like a broken hdd LOL

  • Fuck. I just BROKE the R/W r ea d and solded the wires and worked.

(they rap it like that in the song:D)

    peace...

  • we beuken door je hardeschijf ;)

  • van je hardeschijfxD

  • LOL UGLY TASKBAR!

  • i know, i hate when i have to go more than one row up. i have to use that at school to hold all the quickstart items without having the expand button (this is to the left of task items, not by time). Really makes me mad (they don't even put the xp start menu in the middle!!)

Oh, and awsome speaker. i would do that with mine, but i would want one that's broken first (or less than what i have)

  • @wrahrare who the fuck cares? :)

  • All modern HDDs use a "Voice Coil" head positioning system.. think about.. they call it a "Voice Coil" ? Bwahahaha.. well, what these lads have done is wire the voice coil itself to a speaker driving audio amp.

  • why shut you do this i think a hardisk is better to stash files on :P

  • because you can brag to all your freinds and it is something you can do with a dead hard drive

  • oke iff you guys get happy by doing this Go on! :)

  • if u got a 3.6 gb hard drive ? :S

  • i dont get that reaction... :P

  • then its useless as a harddrive, so u can use it as a speaker :P

  • oke now i get it hihi

  • is that a real hard drive??? if it is daaaaaaam its awsome!!

  • Comment removed

  • It's real, I've done it myself. Until the drive heads on my HDDs got fubard. Not nearly as nifty w/o movement :(

If you're handy with a soldering iron, just grab an amplifier IC from an electronics shop, one w/ a decent amp rating.

  • nice and simple!!!

  • oh my billy, i sure do wonder where the BASE sound comes from

  • another REALLY BIG hardrive. :p

  • that´s fucking awesome!!! O_o

  • yeah! It rocks... uh... I mean you rock... I mean u and the harddrive rock :-)

  • Now where's that old scsi drive I was going to chuck out?? :D

  • thatz cool

  • Whahah Echt supervet!!! SLOPEN!!! :D:D:D

  • hooly crap!!!

  • omg vool

  • i mean cool XD

  • how do i find the voice coil?

  • try to follow the little cables that exit from the coil. its very dificult :(

  • i got it thanks

now go for my laser hd music :]

    sorry for my ingles

  • Catchy song what's the name of it?

  • Ali B - Rampeneren

  • lol

  • basically, there is a Inductor (bascially a wire coil of some sort) on the arm that generates a magnetic feild ... when coupled with a powerful magnet, the inductor repels or attracts it ... causing movement ... which causes noise ...

I tried this out ... it was fun for a few minutes ... then i got bored so attached it to an amp and blew the coil :o)

  • It's a Dutch song called 'Rampeneren' made by 'Partysquad'

  • did it

myn tried to comic suicide my movinng to the point a par tflew at me

  • lol hahahs

  • helps make even more sound or else it sounds small

  • partysquad-rampeneren

  • WICH SONG IS THIS?

  • can you send me a link how I can see wat I should haf to do

  • You apparently haven't seen the hundreds of other HDD speaker videos on Youtube.

  • Actually, I have seen some. But in this video you can hear strong bass, what I mean is how could this low frequency sounds come from such a little speaker?

  • With HDD heads I can hear low-frequency, but with equalizer is better...

  • the cone on top acts like a speaker cone allowing lots of noise

  • What was the name of that song?

  • i built a speaker like this too and i can promise it works ;)

  • oh, i think this is real ... not saying its fake :o)

  • ok how is that done...

  • This is the pimpest harddrive I've ever seen!

  • My Harddrive speaker works but it really doesnt move that far. And it's amplified a little. 1cm is about how far the hdd reader will go. But it still works fine. Great video!

  • should try 40 watts but be careful. when tried it started to burn the plastic and made a sick smell

  • They don't call it a "Voice Coil Drive" for nothing !

  • wow, the sound has bass?

    grazie.

  • I should really do this, I have tons of dead hdds laying around

  • what is the name of the song that are played? it`s awesome:)

  • the name of the song is rampeneren.

    it's dutch.

  • That is so awesome.

  • What song is that please tell me.

  • It´s great! i´ve try something like this too and it works! But, witch song do you unsed for this video?

  • I have to try this one, I have a dozen or so spare hard drives around.

  • lol :))

  • That's why we call them "voice coil motors"

  • Wow, How did you make it produce such low frequencies?? Most HDD Speakers just sound like holding a phone away, really tinny

  • Bull cause the music plays even then the arm stops

  • If you set the volume of your normal speakers low, can you see thém moving?

The only movement you can see, is caused by low frequenties also known as 'bass'.

  • yeah you may find that any video you upload to youtube throws out the audio sync on the video.

  • No it's not, there are so many videos of this and I've done it myself. Why don't you go try it for yourself.

  • This is so real. you already know like anyone else that pretty much all you need is magnets to push the copper and copper to produce the sound really anyone would know that. so that just proved you wrong. feel stupid getting out smarted by a 10 year old? :)

  • O_o ... i was surprized by the amount of people who thought this was fake >_> check the comment above this one ... 10 year olds are so cocky :o) :P ...

  • U Know u were 10 years old at one time

  • Yeah, and i was cocky :o) lol ...

  • Cool! How does it work??

  • That is cool.

  • I don't get it... what exactly what are you doing here?
