As a mommy, I've sang these lyrics for many YEARS! I'm so glad to locate this commercial, for now I truly miss my real life doll, my best friend & son, My Buddy, Andrew E. Pounders, age 24, (R.I.P. resting in paradise - 11-23-11) from post chemotherapy immune system complications. I can I reminisce over the memories and photos of me and the world's best buddy. As a student, he survived the 2005 Katrina flood, like Noah on The Ark... and similarly, he still died, but he was valiant until the end.
My Homie, my homie. Wherever I roll, he rolls.... My homie, my homie... I'll teach him how to pick up hos.... My homie and me like to go on killing sprees, we're the best cellmates, homies could be... My homie, my homie, my homie and me! Or maybe not. The 80s were a much more innocent time.
..And people think they're trying to make children gay in THIS day and age..THEY WERE MARKETING DOLLS TO BOYS!..and dolls are completely different from action figures ok?! *grabs thundercats, joes and transformers*...you guys understand me.
for crying out loud parents...get in the bedroom and make this kid a sibling! This was one of those commercials I prayed for my kids not to see."mom, can I have a My Buddy doll?" All I thought was "what for?" Dragging that life-like kid around would have been dreadfull, like Valley of the Dolls. The concept always creeped me out! Good vid!
My childhood friend's dad wouldn't buy this doll for him because he thought it would turn my friend gay somehow. Now my friend's a homophobic neo-nazi in jail for beating his wife, and some darkly humorous little voice in me can't help but think "shoulda bought him the damn doll".
When I was 3 years old, I used to have a MB (90's version) and I didn't like so much. I used to take it outside and beat him up like there's no tomorrow. What I did is to put the doll on the swingset and catapult him up to the sky (not kidding). Sometimes, I like to punch the doll several times. My family had realized that I didn't like My Buddy, so they decided to give him over to my younger cousin. He actually loved the My Buddy doll more than I do.
Actually when I saw Child's play for the first time I remembered a very old Twilight Zone episode, it was in black and white, the name of the doll was talking Tina and had like 4 or 5 polite phrases and it was really creepy because when the girl was playing with her the doll said:"I am Talking Tina and I really like you", but the father was an asshole and the doll kept changing the phrases until she said to the father that she was going to kill him...and she did.
That's why they canceled the doll because after Child's play came out children began screaming when they saw the doll so they eventually pulled the doll
I always thought that it was Joey Lawrence who sang this song. The commercial ran while he was on "Gimme A Break" where he did alot of singing. He also did alot of singing on awards/special shows during that time. Yup, I'm an old hag! ;)
"I'm one also I even went back and looked at the episode where the chief's sister in law tried to take the girls on gimme a break." :D I just finished watching the tootsie roll commercial
i remember having this back when i was a kid :-D
