  • This is not Guthrie.

  • Perfect Cover u.u

  • Compared to the original, the feel of this sounds more relaxed...like he's not in a hurry to get to the next note/chord

  • @visiting31 well i think Guthrie's picking style has more attack than Eric's. To me, the original is much more lighter and relaxed than this one, but i like both verisons.

  • @jrock264 He doesn't mean the strenght of the picking style. He means that the way Guthrie plays it is more relaxed, like he takes his time to play.He also clearly said "Like he's not in a hurry to get the next note/chord"

  • Guthrie is a musical chameleon..

  • what??! when did he do this???

  • Audio is all we need :)

  • If Guthrie was a chef he would have 10 Michelin stars

  • he is a god

  • this cover is so good that the song sounds like it's composed by himself!

  • Well if anyone should make a cover as great as this who else would it be than Guthrie? ;-) Just think of his track where he imitates other guitarist. He is so wide a player it's unreal.

  • If you listen to it you can hear little sliver's of Guthrie's style coming through the recording while emulating Johnson. As a whole Guthrie plays with a heavier picking hand than Eric and uses his trem a bit more. Not to mention the application of speed in different ways

  • As I have the magazine and CD sitting 10 feet away from me, I can assure you that it IS Guthrie.

    Get a clue eh lad?

  • Thanks ConfortablyNumbe for putting white... down, I hate random posters like this who serve no reason but increase the number of comments...

  • guthrie is the best transcriber for GT imo

  • good cover!!! Johnson and Govan, fucking amazinggg!!! ñiaaaaa!!

  • lol ye guthrie is pretty good ^^ lol he owned us all.

  • Just another example of Guthrie's amazing versatility and talent as a musician. Best cover on Youtube!

  • yeah nice! as usual he nails the tone!!

    definately guthrie!

ive got a favourite vid on my page with him covering every style from Vai to Knophler, to Johnson, was a guitar techniques track as well from a ' wsho's who' of guitar!

  • i'll have to guess that's not him playing...have to see a video to believe...it's just not his tone/style...

  • I seem to remember thats from the guitar magazine he transcribed for. I remember because i have it somewhere at my parents house. this is probably 10 years ago i think.?

  • correct!

  • I once sat in lesson where Guthrie was doing an Eric Johnson lesson and he was playing the original Eddie Van Halen Music Man guitar though a Peavy amp and you know what? It sounded just like Eric Johnson. None of us could believe it either!

  • It is him... I've got this issue of Guitar Techniques where he does an audio introduction of the song.

  • of course it's not. but you have to remember, Guthrie is one of the most versatile guitarists alive. He can mimic basically any other guitarists style that he wants.

  • Sweet
