nice vid. I habe an LP no modifications like it like that and was thinking of buying an explorer and putting some EMGs are you satisfied with ure explorer?
dude....your sound is pretty amazing. i've never heard a dual rectifier sound that way! did u use any overdive to boost it? Can u post me your eq please?
Is there a big difference with the stock pickups and the emgs? I like the old school metallica sound btw :) And its easy to install the emgs in the ex? Nice playing btw :)
hey man.. i have two explorers and i can tell you that the neck is pretty fast.. its quite thin and i feel really comfortable with it.. the only thing i dont really like is the fact that higher frets (19-22) are hard to reach.. especially when youre bending the thin e-string in the 22nd fret.. but besides that.. awesome guitar, awesome neck, awesome sound ;)
@Daleto Thank You Daleto! You know my favourite sound is the sound of Pantera and Metallica, and for this sound I think an Explorer may be better than a Les Paul. I really agree that Les Pauls are fine instruments and I love their sound too, but I think I would prefer an Explorer. All in all I will have to try both. But if the Ex has good playability, that's good. Do You know which one's has lower action and faster neck? Thanks man! Enjoy playing!
if you dig the metallica / pantera sound i would definitely go with the explorer.. the stock pickups are amazing.. they're ceramic and have a really thick and hard sound with lots of gain and a high output.. dont get me wrong, les pauls are amazing guitars too but i think if youre more into heavy sounds, you should go with the EXP ;)
@TankDriverOriginal i cant tell you too much about which one has lower action and faster neck because i only played a couple of times on a les paul but i have to tell you that i didnt felt too comfortable with it.. the neck is too thick my opinion.. it almost felt like i was holding a baseball bat in my left hand.. but thats just my opinion.. i think youll have to try both to find out which one fits you best ;) hope i could help, greets
@Daleto Thank You! I am on the same opinion. And the maple top makes the sound more trebly, wich is to love, but for metal it may not be the best. I will have to try them.
Youre just a fucking beast. Thats all I can say. Its so hard for me to sing and play this song.Yet, I can sing and play Battery (Go figure). Youre awesome dude!!!!!
@gibson67v Good cover! What settings are you using on the amp? I'm using an explorer w/ Emgs too and I just got my Dual Rec yesterday so I'm still looking for a good chugging tone.
Dude you switched to Your Rythm Position to Play the Chugged Distortion Part, WTF? The 85 Chugs Like That? Or You got It Wired; The Bridge Pup on the Top Position and the Neck pup on the Bottom?
@gibson67v you can just loosen the switch and turn it around. or unsolder the two outside wires and swap their location. i feel like owning a $1000+ Gibson guitar with backwards switch wiring is a bit lame considering even my sub-$100 dollar guitars have perfect wiring
Dont listen to the fuck tards leaving bad comments. This video showed me what i wanted to know about mesa dual ill prob get this over the trile just because i want it to sound great at home also.. Love that explorer just got my sg standard ebony it kicks ass with some metal..
those are some good skills dude! I can't for the life of me sing while playing guitar: i just fuck up the guitar part or just stop singing all together.
@JohnTheRipper2 you need time to synchronise both playing and singing. Chill out, dude. Keep practising and you'll start doing it with the time ;) practise is the word
i think that if he would of over tracked the guitars instead of having to switch from clean to distorted it would have sounded better. and maybe do the clean parts with an acoustic to give off a cozy wood sound, now that would be sick.
I have a standard 22, which is very nice, I can demo it thursday night with the Dual Recto! I want a McCarty 25th anniversary, with the mini humbuckers, but obviously it wouldn't be as heavy.
Yea man the McCarty 57/08 caught my eye, or anything with those pick ups in it for that matter, but the customs just sound so damn wicked, I might have to get one of those first lol. The sc250 is pretty cool too but i think i'll get the explorer with emgs and save some money for that hotter sound. Dude I would love to see a demo on your guitar, thanks man!!
@gibson67v for micing high gain distorted guitar amplifiers, is the blue snowball better than the audio technica at2020 usb? i ask cause i see you did a vid with the snowball. thanks!
I have your rig man, and wish I would have found you earlier because I am contemplating my first REAL guitar to go with it, an explorer with emgs, or prs custom 22... what do you recommend would be the best all round first? I'm guessing the prs... you tha man, thanks and keep postin'em!! Rock on!
haha awesome man! Thanks so much! They are definitely growing on me, I was just going to throw in the towel for a gibson LP (which I want one day) but the tone coming out of the prs's I hear are so huge and heavy, but crystal clear I love it!! and the quality is hands down the best... I am paranoid about throwing over $1500 down on an LP if their quality is iffy, so one day I guess i'll save the money for a vos or custom LP just to be safe lol

@00NeVaN00 it wont necessarily change your tone but adds a bit more colour to it like an EQ pedal.

The James's one is really hard, it's really cool !!!!!
But with a voice a little bit more sweet it sounds really good !!!!
