@ps1019 Except that my Muslim female friend who wears the hijab in Canada, and the niqab when she's in the gulf, told me by her estimate that 70% of women in the gulf wear it because they are forced to, even her. Of course, this is an anecdote, and I don't expect you to take my word for it, but the hijab is compulsory in two Muslim countries, and compulsed by conservative families, which is why it's seen as oppressive by some in the West.

I respect Queen Rania's effort to help the needy. However, more effort is needed to stop the religious persecution including rape, torture, and imprisonment of Christians in some Muslim countries. For example,some Christians were deported from Jordan for practicing their beliefs. I believe in a loving and merciful God who commands us to love our neighbors as ourselves. Muslims, Christians, etc. should have the freedom to practice their beliefs as long as they're not forcing or killing anyone.
