Excellent one! I was pleasantly surprised to learn this Is a Pakistani movie. I strongly feel if Indian and Pakistani film industry joins hands lot more gems will come out. I hope it will happen one day.
Although the camera focuses on the lady dancer, he is much the better dancer. His movements are so fluid and seemingly effortless. Hers are not so fluid.
This song is an example of the excellent composition and singing from the Pakistani golden era cinema. Poetry and Music from that time has inspired generations to come.
At first I thought this was from an Indian film! What an incredibly beautiful song. Excellent singing...par excellence choreography! What a gem...thanks a billion!!
@artkid666 You're mistaken. This song was not stolen by an Indian film...there is no song that sounds like this one in any Indian film. My comment referred to the lyrics (which are Hindustani and not Urdu), the attire and the fact that the actors are performing kathak.
@rjsunilvarma Actually I am not mistaken it was stolen later on. Also, the lyrics are NOT in hindustani for hindustani is the modern day Indian language, a poor version of urdu mixed with some Hindi. As for the attire, if a Indian actress wears shalwar kamiz in a film will that make it Pakistani? Pakistan was once a part of India, Kathak is just as much Pakistani as it is Indian.
@artkid666 Actually, I'm rather well aware of old Hindi songs, from late 30s on. This song was indeed not stolen, nor did it inspire any similar song. I wonder if you're referring to Hemant/Lata duet "nain to nain nahi milao", where the only commonality is the word "nain". I had to listen to song once again to see if I was mistaken about the language.
@artkid666 To continue...I could find no Urdu words in the song! In fact, the language used here is not even Hindustani - I stand corrected - it is a dialect used primarily in some parts of Uttar Pradesh...sample "manava mora chahat tumko balma". I'm afraid, I don't know much about Pakistan. My comment on the dress was simply to state that it looked Indian.
@artkid666 Finally, again, I have no idea whether Kathak is practiced in Pakistan or not. Considering that it originated in (undivided) India as a form of dance to tell stories, became popular particularly during the bhakti movement, and considering that a large part of it relates stories about Radha and Krishna, my assumption was that it would not be practiced in a country like Pakistan. That it is, comes as a delightful surprise. My intention was not to offend anybody. It's a lovely song...
