i think its because these guys know each other so theyre just taking it easy. at our barracks we would hang with different units and box each other, so it was more intense and a lot more competitive.

Being lucky enough to never see combat durring my time, I only encountered the corpsmen while going to medical. That said though when I was going to medical for all the procedures during P-week, I think I was more intimidated by the Senior Chief Corpsman than by my DIs (keep in mind they were receiving DIs). As another thought it was a retired Corpsman, who had spent time in southeast Asia with Recon units that encouraged me to join the Corps in the first place.
