Hey all I use Linux and Windows I am Moving very slowly from Win To Linux I am running Ubunto Latest version. Now why does everyone say Linx Is better. Its the same pretty much. I have a reasonabley hardcore system qyad 295s 6core i7980 24GB 2000Mhz all the new stuff now Windows runs fine for the past 12 months. Linux also runs the same . BUT Linux Load on the system is not even recognisable. So if I have a old PC Linux will work Great Im going to be completely over to linux in about 5 months.
I will buy this as a distro if you can make if for me preloaded when i install. See i sell pc's and i want tp sell linux PC's to Windows users and save them money on the OS so i have a better price. I need it to look as close i also want and OS X version. And i need it with all the normal windows like version apps like Limewire = Frostwire nero = not sure but you get the point office = open office. I also need compis Fusion with emerald theme preinstall and the latest ati and geforce drivers
Windows 7 Looks good. Everyone knows that and if this encourages more Windows users to try something new with that added comfort I really don't see anything wrong with that.

@ImmortalkingD Cause I really think people using Linux (and "spreading the word") should focus in teach another people how to take the most from the good OS, not how to mimic the bad OS they are running from (and more if that OS is the nightmare so-called Windows... do you like to have your worst memories in mind all the time? LOL). Just an opinion, don't take it that personal.
@sourhfire You misunderstand, this IS me showing people how to take advantage of a good OS (ubuntu). This is me showing them that they don't have to spend over 100$ to get some crappy, half baked, knock off OS (windows 7, seriously it's nothing special It just LOOKS good. Not really good.) Infact, you should think of it as a '1-up' on windows. Its showing that, not only can it work better than you, it can look better than you too. Because, really, all windows 7 really has is its appearance.
Although i dont particularly like windows i will say that it is quite intuitive to a new user.
Ubuntu on the other hand seems to be harder to grasp , but im sure if you started using it instead it would have the same learning curve. linux is great , i wont argue that! its taken some of my laptops from the bin to playing sega games and atari games AND being a functional laptop even though it only has 128MB ram and pent 3 processor!
@jimbo80982 I suppose you're right, and i'm not above giving credit where credit is due. In the aspect of usability for new users, windows would pretty much take the cake. In fact, when i first used it, it gave me a headache. But, in the end it pays off much more than windows does, and you're right its functionality is superb considering how much ram it can work on.

@sourhfire I installed Ubuntu on my mothers pc. To make the switch for her more easy (she used to work with windows) I made it look like vista. She was happy about it and I'm happy not to worry about viruses. So it can make sense to make Ubuntu to look like windows.
An excellent point. While admins want less to worry about, users are apprehensive of the unfamiliar, so it helps to have an option to give them what they're comfortable with :) It's a win-win.

@sourhfire the only reason I can think of for running linux like in the vid is to help those who are very resistant to new things 'adjust' to linux while keeping a sense of familiarity of windows. kind like the Internet Explorer theme/skin for Firefox. lets them feel like they're on something familiar when it's something better underneath. then in time it can be changed to what it really is as they adjust and learn.
no its just, i installed emerald, downloaded the Pack(in your description) and when i want to add the theme to emerald, i get the message Error Calling Tar...
Some people say in forums, the theme may be corrpted :-(
well i can asure you its not courrupted, seeing how many others have used it and nothing seemed to be wrong. did you try uninstalling then reinstalling emerald to see if you would get a different response?

When it comes to eye candy Windows 7 looks better than any DEFAULT (must stress the default) installation of Linux.
But then again the beauty of Linux is that you can always change it.....

Ubuntu is not crap. You CAN rename files and you CAN run windows software using Wine. It is also alot more stable than windows.
