  • See Michelangeli , Lugano 1954 - live performance... !!!!!

  • Is that Boston Symphony Hall @10 min?!? First place and time I heard this.

  • Richter in this state of age is always top.... Even Horowitz did not get that near to this state of level... Its the pianist of the 20th century who will never be forgotten. As long as people listen to classic piano music he will be listened to.....

  • The work is perfect and the interpretation is about as good as it gets.

  • Thanks for posting this!

  • I love the colors and effects that Richter produces specially in places like 00:55 ...it is so dreamy , full of fantasy ..like the music of Schumann fits. Richter, Richter to eternity!

  • richter has some virtuosic virtuosity

  • Oh I absolutely adore this version. Despite the recording being in 1958, absolutely marvellous playing and sound quality!

  • Richter is unique, but I still prefer Pollinis/Abbados version of Op. 54.

  • Dear TItszt.. sorry but i don't agree ... there is not a King if any piece.... see Michelangeli, Lipatti, Backaus, Arrau, Rubinstein, Cortot and and and others... ect...

  • ilovescarlatti,

Probably Tiszt meant: He is my king for this piece instead of saying the king in general.

I must agree definitly with Mr. Tiszt though.

Talking about piano concertos, to me, Richter owns various...

  • @ilovescarlatti all the versions are good, but Gilels is very special in this piece(doesn't meen is better :P )

  • @ davealkan:

Probably the Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra.

    Conductor: Witold Rowicki

  • richter is always the king of this piece

  • Is this recording still available commercially? Does anyone have details re conductor or anything else?

    Thanks for posting!

  • Always available. DG Originals. Rowicki conducts the PC.

  • He's found the right tempo here. The slowest 3rd mvmt. I ever heard was Arrau, and the fastest Argerich. But Richter's speed is perfect.

  • Richter surely can play any piece that he plays very well. He's one of those pianists that you'll never be disappointed with any recording.

  • thanks...

  • wonderful recording. Thanks for posting this.

  • Thank you so much for posting. This piece is perfect.
