The murder rate is higher in the all of the states that have the death penalty than in the states that do not, undermining the deterrent argument. The only reason to have capital punishment then is for retribution. What about the smallest of percentage of innocent people executed? It has to have happened.

I am a funeral director; and watched a prisoner put to death in the elecric chair at our state prison. The man was literally cooked alive. a horrble way to die I will never forget it as long as I live; especially the smell. There was NOTHING humane about the electric chair.

Anyway I think it is necessary here to clear out something important: the people condemned to die in the Electric Chair don't die immediately, it takes sometimes a long time and you have to turn off an on the electricity more than once until the sentenced dies. During this time the sentenced is concious and is feeling pain.

I cannot see any good reason to not harvest a death row inmates organs. China has been doing it for YEARS (although CHina sells these organs - which is WRONG!!)!! Although it sounds horrible - the fact remains - the person is going to die anyway - why not allow his organs to be his debt to society? I think that NO state or country would execute people ONLY for their organs -- if EVERY country agrees -- organs cannot be sold.

The reason for death penalty is NOT retribution. All laws/punishment MUST have a scale or they become unfair -- the more serious the crime -- the more serious the punishment!! And the ultimate punishment can only be death. You CANNOT say "life without out parole"!!! If prison time = debt to society -- then when prison time ends -- debt is PAID!! Not so! With 3-strikes laws -- you can get life w/o parole for stealing a pizza (3rd strike)!! (This WAS a case in California!!!)

It only costs more to execute a person ONLY because of the lawyers -- a typical case will last 16 years and go through 6 trials -- even if there is video tape/fingerprint/DNA evidence - and since inmate has no money -- YOU pay for it all!
The murder rate is NOT higher/lower in states that do/do not have the death penalty -- but your point is made -- death penalty DOES NOT deter crime!! Highest murder rate state (1990 -- 2005): Texas. Highest execution rate state (1990 -- 2005): Texas

They should abolish the death penalty -- instead when someone is sentenced to die - take all organs from them!! Why should a good person that needs a transplant -- die? And a piece of shit that can no longer function in society -- will die and take his organs with him? HARVEST THE ORGANS of those about to die -- and DO NOT give them a choice!! Society must be paid back for their crimes -- and their payment is their organs!!!

I am also against capital punishment, but as long as we have it we may as well enjoy it. Nothing better than the chair for good fry up either. For a light hearted parody of the death penalty, see my movie which advocates the death penalty for the crime of using cellphones in places that you shouldn't. The end scene in my movie is funny, but a bit gruesome, so don't let the kids see it.

I'm not defending the murder at all, he/she deservs punishment, but anyway the society has to be more civilised than its criminals. Besides think that a long life prison is even worse than the death penalty, or do you really think that a prison is something like a wellness resort?

Some criminals just dont learn from their mistakes. Like Donald Gaskin for example. He escaped from prison, than kills another innocent citizen. Think of your daughter or little sister getting raped by one of these people. It's better to get these barbaric people out than to see a prolific murderer loose.I'm glad the supreme court allowed the death penalty.

Actually, it costs more to execute a person (typically) than to incarcerate that person for life. The murder rate is higher in the all of the states that have the death penalty than in the states that do not, undermining the deterrent argument. The only reason to have capital punishment then is for retribution. What about the smallest of percentage of innocent people executed? It has to have happened.

I am a funeral director; and watched a prisoner put to death in the elecric chair at our state prison. The man was literally cooked alive. a horrble way to die I will never forget it as long as I live; especially the smell. There was NOTHING humane about the electric chair.

Anyway I think it is necessary here to clear out something important: the people condemned to die in the Electric Chair don't die immediately, it takes sometimes a long time and you have to turn off an on the electricity more than once until the sentenced dies. During this time the sentenced is concious and is feeling pain.
