Stew, what does child abuse have to do with animal cruelty, pray tell? There are MANY important causes in the world & God bless those who get up off their butts & ACT. Animal abuse IS a holocaust. We all have callings to fix right & wrong. If your calling is children, then do all you can. If my calling is aniamals, then respect it. The problem lies in the ones who do NOTHING. Remember, responsible pet ownership is an important value we can teach our children or they will think nothing of animal abuse-many times a stepping stone to human abuse. @scorpionwoman34 Not all petsmart and petco stores buy from puppy mills. our local shelter adopts dogs out from our petco and petsmart in NJ. I do not know if all of them do that but the ones here do :)
@showmetheinuyasha okay & thats not good either! All that animal shelter is doing is giving petco/petsmart money for those dogs which goes back to the puppy mill. While you think the rescue shelter is doing a good thing, it's really only supporting them. Think about it...

@KittyKyomi lol true. but not all puppy selling places are bad, our first dog was bred but not from a puppy mill, more of a private breeder. it 's better to buy from private owners and before you buy totally go check out the puppy and scope out the area for cruelty. private breedeers are SECOND BEST TO SHELTERED DOGS! save the shelters FIRST!!!

I am JUST fostering one of these poor breeders. I had partitioned off one of the rooms that has an outside door. She spent the entire hour at the door jumping trying to get out. I had to redirect her to let her know that she was not confined and turn her around to let her know there was more space for her to roam including the WHOLE house. WTF.

The AKC and Hunte Corporation (the largest puppy broker in the US) are partners, and well, the AKC partners with the Westminster Kennel Club...it's all about money and mills...BOYCOTT all AKC sponsored "shows" and their corporate sponsors...IT DOES WORK!!!

Adoption is great, but a faster solution to this problem would be government regulation and laws preventing such facilities as they are cruel and inhumane. I voted for Pres. Obama for this very reason. He promised to put an end to puppy mills while holding the three legged dog (victim of puppy mill). It's early in his presidency, but I really hope he does something. Puppy mills are cruel, inhumane, and horrible for the environment, consumers, and dogs.

The people that do this should be shot. We just saved our Chihuahua from a puppy mill. She is only 3 and was going to be shot in the head because she stopped producing. Please think before buying that cute puppy! Think about the 30 that don't have a home! Please stop this madness! we saved our dog from a puppy mill last year, shes 6 years old, and she is scared of men, really scared, but slowly shes starting to come out of her shyness, some days are better for her, but others you can tell, she always looks so sad, but with are other 3 dogs, she starting to play with them, shes coming along.

i have found that shelters are very difficult to adopt from, the criterea is way too high.
but everyone should be encouraged to adopt from independent breeders...
stop the puppy mills, please. don't buy from pet stores, most around here (chicago) can only show the papers are from missouri, which is one of the leading states in puppy mills.

Its an absolute disgrace and tragic that so many animals live like this. We should ban puppy farms as it will stop this cruelty. These poor dogs need to be rescued and fast! Lets hope for a stop to cruelty like this, for all animals to live in peace, for an end to all animal experimentation, factory farming, fur farms and hunting. yep-you're right-there will always be puppymills. Just like we will ALWAYS have slavery in the USA, we will NEVER have a black president, etc...it all takes TIME & EDUCATING the public. just doesnt happen overnite or even in a few years. If you take away their profits from this then you take away the incentive to have puppymills. and YES i am VERY involved in dog rescue & am on my 23rd foster dog, most of whom have been puppymill rescues.

I am an avid propnent of rescue organizations and volunteer and donate regularly. However, it is disgusting that you'd use the Schindler's List music, insinuating that this is comparable to the Holocaust. My father's older brother, whom he never met, was two years old and hiding with a family. Their priest turned them in and the little boy's head was stepped on and crushed like a grape in front of the whole town to send a message that Jews deserved to die like this. How dare you compare.
well, props for learning all about te joys of sarcasm "mas0011" but we'll only know for sure if they respond to my post. I think, however, that they were following PETA's lead from a few years back when they compared slaughterhouses to the Holocaust. Schindler's List is iconic and it looks to me like te shock value of using the sound score from the film was a goal of the piece.
I'm insensitive? How have I done anything insensitive? 4 years ago, PETA did a demonstration comparing meat slaughterhouses to the holocaust. THAT is insensitive. And I have huge respect for the concept of veganism by the way. Evidently, the conclusion I reached here was wrong, and for that, I'm sorry. Music is a Universal gift. It belongs to everyone. The composer of this music, John Williams, no doubt hoped it would be shared and used to inspire the eradication of ALL cruelty from this planet. Several members of my family in Europe died in Auschwitz, and the use of this music does not offend ME! Many suffered and many died. I believe that all life is ONE and therefore cruelty, in ALL its forms, affects us all. Let's not lose sight of the BIG PICTURE?

This is repulsive and every puppy and kitten mill should be shut down. This is pathetic and all of those dogs need vet care and companianship. Pet shops that sell live animals should also be shut down. I cry every time I see a puppy mill story and realize that nothing will ever happen and thousands of animals will suffer for no other reason than the love of money. If a society is judged by how they treat their animals, ours is certainly in the fast lane to hell.

ladies. ever think wat might happen if all pet stores closed? with no pet stores, the only place you will be able to purchase a pup would be from breeders. Breeders sales would double/triple. Now only 1 of 2 things can happen here. #1, although demand doubles, breeder doesn't get greedy and facility and procedure remains the same. #2, n I'll bet most will agree, breeder sees opportunity to make more $ and breeding facility turns into, u guessed it, a puppy mill! please don't delete the truth.
I dont think the message is to close pet stores. I think the message they are trying to get across is to IMPROVE the conditions used to provide puppies for pet stores.

And another thing is, if you go to a pet store and buy a puppy, it will have a happy life, but it will increase the demand for more pups.... The hardest part is watching this knowing that these are LEGAL facilities..imagine what the others are like? America does NOT NEED this kind of breeding for dogs!!!! DO NOT BUY ANY LIVING CREATURE FROM A STORE!! No matter what the kind of animal..this is how they are ALL managed. Even Guinea Pigs! Please take the time to find a RECOGNIZED breeder if you MUST have a purebred to make you feel special. Otherwise just go to your local dog rescues.
Never buy a puppy from a mill or store. Never pay anyone money for a puppy except the licensing fees to adopt. Go to a shelter and adopt if you're going to get a pet! Deny them their profits and pass on the knowledge.
I've had trouble sleeping...I am so sorry about what I've seen. The worst part of it is that I now own a puppy mill puppy and knew it when I was getting her. I was so distraught over the loss of my previous dog that I had blinders on. I love my new puppy and hope, in some small way, that her mother knows that she is spoiled beyond belief. I will never make the mistake again, but what is done is done. I have a wonderful new life that we love. I will, however, let the truth be known...
It really saddens my heart to look at this, but the truth needs to be told!! In my opinion, the people who run these puppy mills need to be locked up...that's just how I feel from my heart...those poor loving animals being treated like they are nothing, but they are anything but!!!!!! love and peace to all animals.

Jesus Good god people.You talk about not buying animals from pet stores...But really when you think about it your doing less help by not, buy them.Save them from their misery.But I can see people not wanting to pay, so they dont indulge the neglect...But I guess Its really a mixed review for me...If I could I would save them all...

This video is so sad & painful to watch. I rescued my 2 dogs from being breed at a local puppy mill. They came to me without knowing human contact or love. That was a year ago and they are finally enjoying the fact that they will never be hurt again and they can completely trust us. So sad! Why do people do this, I don't get it?! Get a job losers...

It is bad enough to produce so many puppies, but WHY do they have them in such cramped and filthy conditions? I don't understand why they cannot have a solid surface under their feet and room to run and move, decent food and vet care. I've noticed in some other videos that a large percentage of the culprits in PA are Amish! Makes no sense.
I just rescued a Pomeranian that was at a Puppy Mill for 6 years & a shelter for 1 year. It is so sad. She is 7 years old & scared of the Grass. But she is So Loved now & she knows it.
I am devastated to see this cruelty. I am a fool because I fell in love with a puppy at a pet store & bought him (not doing research) & took him to the vet. He has kennel cough. A family member explained to me that I probably had a puppy mill puppy. I called the pet shop & asked who their breeder was. They said she's USDA certified, thats all they could say. I couldn't believe it. I know if I'm able to confirm my suspicions, I will post the name of the pet shop everywhere I can.

We have been told there are NO regulations. WHY NOT???? There is a stream at the bottom of her property which I'm sure dog feces has run into. I called the EPA, after two months they did come look but didn't bother to test the water. We cleaned off a few acres of land we had bought which had been logged before we bought it and sowed it in grass and the EPA wanted to charge us $5000 because we didnt put up screening. I guess its ok for dog crap to be in a streams as long no dirt gets into them
I live in NC and we have been fighting and fighting to stop a puppy mill. The conditions these poor animals live in is terrible. The stud males are brought in and tied with boat ropes to trees and abandoned cars. Puppies and other dogs are caged and never taken out. This woman has almost 200 dogs on an acre of land and is breaking all kinds of county codes but nothing is ever done. We have brought all these issues along with pictures to our county commissioners but nothing is ever done.
Those puppy mill and pet store owners, who feed off the cruel acts to these poor innocent animals, should be killed in the most horrifying and painful manner!
Those who love to discriminate by buying pedigree animals, instead of adopting the millions of homeless animals are equally to blame, for creating the demand.

a family could only take care of up to 3 dogs proporly, not a million and two!! i wish where was a place where all dogs could go and it would be streched on for endless of miles and every dog could go there instead of dying

I have never met a good breeder that sold his or her dogs to a pet store. Maybe it could happen but its a less than 1% of a time thing. The Breeders I know make you sign a contract if something happens & you can't won't take continued care of the dog then the dog is returned to the Breeder. We don't need "well not all Breeders " anywhere in this story.Bottom line MOST Pet store dogs come from puppy mills. This has to be stopped & shutting down the pet store sales is Job # 1
I must say a great deal of the stores are bad. However, there are creditited breeders who breed the dogs respectfully to better the breed. So, instead of boycotting the stores, just make sure you get detailed lienage on were the puppy comes from. If they cannot provide that, then it is a safe bet that the puppy came from somewere, that is, unorthadox.

I am JUST fostering one of these poor breeders. I had partitioned off one of the rooms that has an outside door. She spent the entire hour at the door jumping trying to get out. I had to redirect her to let her know that she was not confined and turn her around to let her know there was more space for her to roam including the WHOLE house. WTF.

If I were president. i would end puppy mills and animal abuse. Who ever worked at a puppy mill would be in prision for life, then excicuted. Then people who have casses with animal abusement. Adoption is great, but a faster solution to this problem would be government regulation and laws preventing such facilities as they are cruel and inhumane. I voted for Pres. Obama for this very reason. He promised to put an end to puppy mills while holding the three legged dog (victim of puppy mill). It's early in his presidency, but I really hope he does something. Puppy mills are cruel, inhumane, and horrible for the environment, consumers, and dogs.

The people that do this should be shot. We just saved our Chihuahua from a puppy mill. She is only 3 and was going to be shot in the head because she stopped producing. Please think before buying that cute puppy! Think about the 30 that don't have a home! Please stop this madness! Most if not allof these dogs died from starvation, dehydration or abandoned in the country or just shot and killed. Thanks for sharing this eye opening video.

but everyone should be encouraged to adopt from independent breeders...
stop the puppy mills, please. don't buy from pet stores, most around here (chicago) can only show the papers are from missouri, which is one of the leading states in puppy mills.

Its an absolute disgrace and tragic that so many animals live like this. We should ban puppy farms as it will stop this cruelty. These poor dogs need to be rescued and fast! No dog should ever be treated like a commodity to be bought or sold.
They need to be bred in a home enviroment by a loving and caring family.
The other thing we need to do is encourage the adoption of older at risk dogs.
These dogs go into shelters and end up being killed by the millions.
This cost the taxpayers money and is a waste of resources that could be used elsewhere.

Just like we will ALWAYS have slavery in the USA, we will NEVER have a black president, etc...it all takes TIME & EDUCATING the public. just doesnt happen overnite or even in a few years. If you take away their profits from this then you take away the incentive to have puppymills. and YES i am VERY involved in dog rescue & am on my 23rd foster dog, most of whom have been puppymill rescues.

I am an avid propnent of rescue organizations and volunteer and donate regularly. However, it is disgusting that you'd use the Schindler's List music, insinuating that this is comparable to the Holocaust. My father's older brother, whom he never met, was two years old and hiding with a family. Their priest turned them in and the little boy's head was stepped on and crushed like a grape in front of the whole town to send a message that Jews deserved to die like this. How dare you compare.

I think, however, that they were following PETA's lead from a few years back when they compared slaughterhouses to the Holocaust. Schindler's List is iconic and it looks to me like te shock value of using the sound score from the film was a goal of the piece.

Several members of my family in Europe died in Auschwitz, and the use of this music does not offend ME! Many suffered and many died. This is repulsive and every puppy and kitten mill should be shut down. This is pathetic and all of those dogs need vet care and companianship. Pet shops that sell live animals should also be shut down. I cry every time I see a puppy mill story and realize that nothing will ever happen and thousands of animals will suffer for no other reason than the love of money. If a society is judged by how they treat their animals, ours is certainly in the fast lane to hell.

ladies. ever think wat might happen if all pet stores closed? with no pet stores, the only place you will be able to purchase a pup would be from breeders. Breeders sales would double/triple. Now only 1 of 2 things can happen here. #1, although demand doubles, breeder doesn't get greedy and facility and procedure remains the same. #2, n I'll bet most will agree, breeder sees opportunity to make more $ and breeding facility turns into, u guessed it, a puppy mill! please don't delete the truth.

The hardest part is watching this knowing that these are LEGAL facilities..imagine what the others are like? America does NOT NEED this kind of breeding for dogs!!!! I've had trouble sleeping...I am so sorry about what I've seen. The worst part of it is that I now own a puppy mill puppy and knew it when I was getting her. I was so distraught over the loss of my previous dog that I had blinders on. I love my new puppy and hope, in some small way, that her mother knows that she is spoiled beyond belief. I will never make the mistake again, but what is done is done. I have a wonderful new life that we love. I will, however, let the truth be known...

I'm not allowed to have one anymore, because my mom doesn't want puppy stains or the cats to be annoyed... a lot of people who have dogs treat them badly. so why can an irresponsible person have a dog to torture, when a responsible one can't have one to love? :(

This video is so sad & painful to watch. I rescued my 2 dogs from being breed at a local puppy mill. They came to me without knowing human contact or love. That was a year ago and they are finally enjoying the fact that they will never be hurt again and they can completely trust us. So sad! Why do people do this, I don't get it?! Get a job losers...

With tears in my eyes I watched this video. I can not understand how a human being could be so cruel to these poor little dogs. I am in dog rescue and see the horror these little babies have faced.
Please do not consider this ok and please do not buy a dog from a pet store.
And folks, please help out a rescue of your favorite breed or volunteer at the humane society. I do both and let me say one thing, at the end of the day it feels great to know I am making a difference.

I don't understand the cruelty!
It is bad enough to produce so many puppies, but WHY do they have them in such cramped and filthy conditions? I don't understand why they cannot have a solid surface under their feet and room to run and move, decent food and vet care. I've noticed in some other videos that a large percentage of the culprits in PA are Amish! Makes no sense.

I just rescued a Pomeranian that was at a Puppy Mill for 6 years & a shelter for 1 year. It is so sad. She is 7 years old & scared of the Grass. But she is So Loved now & she knows it.

I am devastated to see this cruelty. I am a fool because I fell in love with a puppy at a pet store & bought him (not doing research) & took him to the vet. He has kennel cough. A family member explained to me that I probably had a puppy mill puppy. I called the pet shop & asked who their breeder was. They said she's USDA certified, thats all they could say. I couldn't believe it. I know if I'm able to confirm my suspicions, I will post the name of the pet shop everywhere I can.

An ignorant population is a happy one or so the saying goes... what people dont know wont hurt them... wasnt hitler bad enough with the concentration camps, peoples attitude is "oh no its not going to happen to me" We really need to wisen up.... but then again people always go into a frenzy and do the unthinkable when someone says "gold" or "money" or "profit" its human nature to be greedy, selfish, arrogant... but this... this is just inhumane....

We have been told there are NO regulations. WHY NOT???? There is a stream at the bottom of her property which I'm sure dog feces has run into. I called the EPA, after two months they did come look but didn't bother to test the water. We cleaned off a few acres of land we had bought which had been logged before we bought it and sowed it in grass and the EPA wanted to charge us $5000 because we didnt put up screening. I guess its ok for dog crap to be in a streams as long no dirt gets into them

I live in NC and we have been fighting and fighting to stop a puppy mill. The conditions these poor animals live in is terrible. The stud males are brought in and tied with boat ropes to trees and abandoned cars. Puppies and other dogs are caged and never taken out. This woman has almost 200 dogs on an acre of land and is breaking all kinds of county codes but nothing is ever done. We have brought all these issues along with pictures to our county commissioners but nothing is ever done.

Those puppy mill and pet store owners, who feed off the cruel acts to these poor innocent animals, should be killed in the most horrifying and painful manner!
Those who love to discriminate by buying pedigree animals, instead of adopting the millions of homeless animals are equally to blame, for creating the demand.

I hope everyone begins to see how important it is to KNOW who you are buying your puppy from. We all need to be on alert and STOP this cruelty!! Dogs are not items without feelings... they love just like we do, they hurt just like we do.
Dogs, cats and other pets enhance the lives of so many with love and for so many people, their pet gives them a reason to be.

Everyone who views this should email it, cross post and put it on MySpace or Facebook, etc. This has to stop! There are countless animals waiting to be adopted, and most of them are NOT in "No Kill" shelters.

there is no answer for all these poor dogs!
a family could only take care of up to 3 dogs proporly, not a million and two!! i wish where was a place where all dogs could go and it would be streched on for endless of miles and every dog could go there instead of dying
no one should breed dogs for 10 years so that the dog population would slow down a bit WITHOUT killing dogs. after a little while we should then be able to breed dogs.

omg this is so hurtful to watch. guys this is just... omg i cant stand to see dogs and puppies haveing to live like this!! when i get my own place then im gonna adopt all the dogs i get from the shelter! and anyone who is looking to by a dog should also get them from the shelter! cmon guys! i kno tht if u adopt a dog then u could change their life and they can change urs. ALL dogs need love and affecion!!!!!

this is very painful. please guys please please please get your animals from the shelter. they need love and affection no matter age size breed. even if has one eye, 3 legs, and or the oldest one there, please just think how much you would be able to change their live. these are all beautiful animals that need us. we need to come together and save them. i have 6 dogs and never once have i bought one. and youknow what? they are great animals. protecting their home and appreciate it all......

In order to break this heartbreaking cycle we MUST STOPPING BUYING FROM THE PET STORES!!! Break off the the puppy mills cash flow! Go to your local animal shelter and adopt.

How can the people that breed these dogs look into their eyes, these dogs have no soul, it has been shattered, i don't know how anyone can look at an animal knowing that they have shattered the animals soul.

I have never met a good breeder that sold his or her dogs to a pet store. Maybe it could happen but its a less than 1% of a time thing. The Breeders I know make you sign a contract if something happens & you can't won't take continued care of the dog then the dog is returned to the Breeder. We don't need "well not all Breeders " anywhere in this story.Bottom line MOST Pet store dogs come from puppy mills. This has to be stopped & shutting down the pet store sales is Job # 1

I must say a great deal of the stores are bad. However, there are creditited breeders who breed the dogs respectfully to better the breed. So, instead of boycotting the stores, just make sure you get detailed lienage on were the puppy comes from. If they cannot provide that, then it is a safe bet that the puppy came from somewere, that is, unorthadox.
