If you like God is an Astronaut, check out this other band called "Strike Him Centurion". Their music is a bit rare (aside from a MySpace page), but they're from Sacramento, CA. I saw em live back in 2005, their music was every bit as awe inspiring and rocktastic as GiaA.

So I can say, GIAA is not original due to their influences if we would put the pieces correctly together we could make another GIAA, but I can say GIAA is original, because nobody did this before them this way, not even (place your favourite artist here). Both statements are true.

sounds nothing like 'em. only thing in common - the music is instrumental. mogwai are more dark/atmospheric and less melodic. giaa is more spaced-out and melodic. have to agree on the last two albums though - they kinda resemble other post-rock acts.

You can't say they sound nothing like them, they're pretty much the exact same genre. I'm not saying they're they same, and your right with the description of each but they have an awful lot of similarities. Not that its a bad thing, don't get me wrong, i like both bands!
