I work for crocs and i can see that the "look-a-likes" get stuck, your "FLIPFLOPS" are thin so its possible if you're not paying attention, plus thats with ALL flip flops. These shoes have been tested and are a stronger more durable material. It simply just doesn't happen.

So yesterday my whole family was at the mall. My son was first in line riding own a esclator and got his skechers(that look like crocs) stuck. I was right behind him and tried to get him loose an my croc flip flops got stuck and my 4 year old daughter who was right behind me got one of her crocs stuck. It was very scary.
You need to understand the Crocs catch the side of the escalator, because of the traction and flexibility of the rubber it catches on the smooth stainless steel side, then gets pulled most likely downward into narrow space between the step and the side. Everyone you see is pretty cautious when exiting over the top or bottom of an escalator , but to consider the edge so dangerous is not as common. I am not surprised so many children have gotten hurt.
