  • why do you put your fingers on top of a fret ?

  • @ntairizer i think you get less buzz and/or it was the he feels comfertable with

  • Just ignore those negative comments.

Yours lessons are really helping and blessing majority.

  • @TwcBassPlayer, Hey man, I don't know that there is a such thing as a 1 size fit all Lick or solo.

Check out our "Grooving" videos on our GospelBassLines Channel.

  • Wow, this video has inspired me to learn more material on my bass, thank you for your insight on getting grooves down! :)

  • Thanks for the videos! That last progression sounds good with the 3 in there:

    1-7-3-6-5-4...

  • if only i had a five string

  • Thank -you god bless

  • thanx man this worked big time!....thank you torch7!

  • Glad to hear it!

  • love your videos ( God bless you)

  • Thanks.

  • just one question that has been hunting me everytime is see your video (by the way thank you, i love every last video you have made and learn a great deal from them) but back to my question. why do you play on the line and some play on or inbetween the lines on the bass. very confused. i know my notes between the frets but you play on the frets and im just confused. please post back

  • Actually for a couple of reasons, I play directly behind the frets...

1.) I don't have to use as much force to hold the notes.

2.) It reduces the clanking sound that happens when the strings hit the fret.

  • Thank you for doing this, But please bring up the bass volume more to match the background music and the talking, much like your lastest video

    thanx

    GOD BLESS

    Kenny

  • I haven't said anything in a while. But I'm improving greatly at playing the bass. Our church's guitar player (great bass player too) says that I have the skill and talent, but that I don't listen to music that brings the talent out. Got any good artists (any genre) that have great basslines?

  • Sean Byrd, who is a good friend of mines, check him out on the Marcus Scott & Ministers of Judah CD it can be downloaded from Amazon. Also, Darell Freeman, Justin Raines, Terrance Palmer are some of my favorite bass players, do a google search on their names, + bass to see what CD's they are on.

  • where did you get these midi files, i love them and what songs are they based on, i cant seem to find the one that fits the midi

  • Sorry I don't remember where I got that particular midi from, do a google search for "Gospel Midi" that's how I searched for them

  • wat beat machine do you use

  • I use a Boss BR8 Recorder, and a Hydrogen software on my Computer.

  • Sometimes we are just not in an environment that plays the type of worship music, we would normally listen to. Our role as a bass player doesn't change however. We still play an important role in our playing. I would suggest that you speak to the leader and ask sincerely, if they would consider implementing a different style to the songs you currently play. Sometimes it doesn't go with the congregation. We play a diverse range of songs, but ROCK probably wouldn't fit. We do CCM like Chris

  • Tomlin, Casting Crowns, Hillsong, but we adapt the music and feel to our congregation.

If your suggestion doesn't fit. I would then suggest, continue to play where your playing to the Glory of God, but also attempt to find some other venues where Gospel Music (If that's what you like) is being played. Perhaps a community gospel choir, or a gospel ensamble. Trust me people are always looking for a quality bass man, to fit in with their gospel group. :)

  • Thanks for the suggestion, its a strange coincidence because yesterday we just got a new piece of music to spice things up! Everything is starting to progress further and I just will let God lead me you know? I've only been playing for 3 and a half years or so and I have a Carvin 4 string, took a few lessons when I began. I also just auditioned for my college band today and its doubtful that I will get into the jazz ensemble, but I just showed the guy I was willing to learn.

  • Great news. Hopefully the guy who sees you are willing to learn will keep you in mind.

  • Hey, I'm not really as into all the Gospel stuff, but it is something that I wish I was. I play bass for my church, Christian by the way, and we just play mostly hymns. Sometimes we play contemporary stuff, like Chris Tomlin stuff, but we REALLY need something to spice up the music. We find ourselves playing the same old stuff week after week. As a bass player, I'm depressed because I feel kind of like I can't do anything about it, you know? I'm not the leader type and don't know what to do

  • Keep on Keep on Thank You Very Much.

  • Thank you for the this video. keep on do what GOD gave you to play and teach.

  • Thanks I will.

  • Stay encouraged in the Lord! May He bless you for helping others! I'm being blessed by you brother!

  • Thanks for the words of encouragement, they are definately appreciated.

    God Bless.

  • It's great to have you back!!! I really love your bass videos!!! They are so inspiring. Can you tell what scales and chord patterns to use on various songs. Thanks a million!

  • Thanks.

I will be sure to begin to include scales and chord patterns...

  • Thanks ITAGOTB.

Actually it's the same camera. I used a different aspect ratio on this video... Instead of 4:3 I used 16:9, gave it the letterbox feel.

  • Another great video Torch7. Are you using a different camera on this video? Very nice quality.

  • Thank you so much, I am just learning and your videos help me so much

  • I am glad they are helping in your learning of the bass.

  • TIGHT WORK MAN OF GOD.... THANK U

  • Thanks for watching. :)

  • Keep it up. I need 2 show my fellow bass friends these vids. I could also use ur vids to teach other people as well. God Bless.

  • Wow... I appreciate the comments.

  • cool vid, I can't catch your fills... but I'm going in my shed. :) keep em coming. Thanx!

  • Thanks for the comments.... I will have a few more in the works...

  • Thanks for keeping the series alive. Realize that this is both a musical learning experience AND a ministry. The unsaved see how a Christian man acts. It is great how you addressed the haters - of course they will come at you, as sin-nature is annoyed by the Holy Spirit. But as you showed - just rebuke it all with love. They really hate that - they HAVE too - but maybe, just maybe ONE will get curious as to what you have that makes you so loving. THAT'S the ministry part! Keep it going!

  • Thanks for the encouraging words. Much appreciated. Comments like these make it all worth it.
