  • What year is that Pete seen at 0:50?

  • @MudFlapper359 That is a 51 i believe

  • I've watched this video for months now and it never get's old. I love the sound of those 2 strokes.

  • Click 1:30 here to get to the good part :)

  • 5.29 axles, so most of the time in this video is in high gear? I'd like to put some nice tall gears in there so she could really get out and stretch her legs!!

  • @realvanman1 yeah it was fired walled in overdrive. When the governor was adjusted to turn 2600 rpms it would do about 68. I would still rather put different axles on because i wouldnt want to be pulling at 2400 rpms..

  • I've owned a bunch of hondas and I love this sound. Gives me chills

  • If I win the lottery, I'm building a sweet rig with a 12v71tt, love the sound of this engine!

  • Comment removed

  • The 12v71 2 stroke had great power. Its sounds like a sports car.

  • YES THIS IS THE TRUCK OF TRUCKS THIS IS THE BEAST OF ALL BEASTS SHE IS SOO LOUD THO

  • Where is this shot at?

  • 5 people had their Mazdas get sucked into the intake of this monster

  • @CaptainBig8IIIIIID hell yea!

  • old Detroit diesels were 2 stroke, therefore they needed a blower for correct scavenging because of the very short cylinder fill time/exhaust time=volumetric efficiency. blower has marginal boost if any under most operating on these engines. turbo charging them gave them the real ponies from boost. fed sequentially to through the blower. thus the silver series Detroit.

  • Its amazing how those kids think their honda's need exausts that big....

  • I don't know bout u but my ear just came!

  • How much hearing impairment does the most frequent driver have today? My guess is over 33% permanent loss of hearing. Loud things are cool, until you cannot hear anymore. Some may say 'what is hearing?' How 'bout "I love you" from one's wife that one can no longer hear??

  • Can't find em, Grind em

  • Has she a turbo or it's an atmospheric engine (sorry for my english, I'm french) ?

  • @Tyconniendu59 it says 'non turbo' in description, so no turbo but i think its a two stroke engine and has low pressure supercharger to fill the cylinders, im not 100 % sure , someone correct me if im wrong

  • @Tyconniendu59

As far as I know all 2 stroke Detriot diesels had a super charger of the Rootes style (Not turbo), very popular to put on top of a V8 petrol engine for a massive gain of power.

Most dragsters in the faster classes uses this or similar type super chargers. They were named after the displacement they were supposed to feed. Most old Detroits´s had 71cui per cyl.

Example: 4-71 was made for a 4x71 cui engine=284cui! Perfect for a 283 chevy engine or something like that!

  • @campingkillen So 12-71 Turbocharged engine have got a Rootes style's supercharger and a conventionnal turbo ?? how is it possible to put together a turbo and a supercharger ?

  • @Tyconniendu59 You have the supercharger, and then you have a turbocharger, and then the intake hose off the turbo goes into the supercharger. i think

  • how can u NOT like this video listnen to that baby PURR!!!

  • Damn! Them Jakes are L*O*U*D!!! Love it!

  • Loud, inconsiderate prick must be makin' up for a small dick.....

  • @CrudeDude piss off dude.

  • @Hotrodx199 Truth hurts, huh bitch?

  • @CrudeDude i really dont understand how loud exhaust has anything to do with penis size...

  • @Hotrodx199 people with small penises are the ones that make reference to small ones. nice truck by the way.

  • @jdlatrace haha thanks

  • @CrudeDude your an asshole for such a pussy ass comment. go fuck yourself cause you don't got what it takes to be in the truck world. Some of us got hobbies. some of us got careers. apparently you don't have either. So do yourself a favor. when you become a regular human with morals and respect and matured, Talk the talk. Till then. take ya skanky trashy faggoty sissified son of a cunty gay ass the fuck off my boy"s shit. DEUCES

  • Comment removed

  • @darcula08 Hey, classy reply. About what I'd expect from a low life no-class bitch like yourself.

  • @CrudeDude Lol you're the only guy with a low life. Do you really think you're accomplishing anything by making yourself look like an idiot? No one likes you. You're like a bunch of clouds, when you fuck off, it's an awesome day.

  • @Hotrodx199 I'd say the idiot is the inconsiderate ass hole who has to make his old clapped-out truck loud so he can attract attention to himself, because he's so worthless no one pays him any mind.

  • @CrudeDude only a faggot fuck honky like you would say something so dollar tree cheap cuz you know i'm right.

  • @darcula08 < n word

  • @CrudeDude At least he has the balls to run that Buzzin Dozen WITHOUT mufflers, which is illegal as hell in some states because of the loud exhaust and jakes. You're just too much of a pussy to run ANYTHING with a loud exhaust. I bet you've disliked every single straight-pipe/loud exhaust vid on here. You're just jealous cause your ricer has no balls and this truck has balls the size of fucking Jupiter. Hotrod's V6 Bronco II more balls than you and your ricer, so quit trollin and shut up bitch.

  • I wish I could do that.

  • rough railroad crossing,wasn't it?

  • want one for xmas plus a couple of ladyboys please

  • i absolutely love working on those engines they are so basic! im sure your neighbors just love when u fire that thing up on a cold morning lol. we have one of those for a power unit, its 6 miles from the house and i can hear it on a calm night

  • how many speeds is this 12v71? Sounds nice. WOuld love to drive something like this thru pittsburgh LOL. Jakes and all

  • @darcula08 It has a 13 speed. If it was restored, it needs a 6x4 Lol but its just a toy

  • @Hotrodx199 must have took a lot of patience and time to keep your toy sounding like it does. love to see more videos of this truck lol.

  • If testosterone had a sound, this would be it!!!!!!!

  • How much HP does this beautiful engine have ? is it a ROOTS Blower ? and how much torques does it have ?

  • @unclewilly2 It has about 550-575 now, yes it has roots blower and idk how much torque probably around 1400

  • @Hotrodx199 what is made on the truck that he has 100HP more than standart ?

  • Comment removed

  • them cows musta shit at 4:10 hahaha

  • The reason it doesn't have a Y pipe is because it's a V12 thus has two cylinder banks and two exhaust manifolds. The inline 6s like cat and cummins only have one cylinder bank and one manfold thus a Y pipe is required to get dual stacks. The reason it has 5.29 rear gears means that it has no torque and compensates with gearing. The 12V-71s outran the KT600's and the 3408's on the flats but hit a hill and it fell off.

  • If ya cant find it, grind it!

  • Hotrod do u rmeber how much hp he was runnin when he did the injector swamp? what do u think like 500-600hp somwhere?

  • @Unlimited3406 Probably around 550 now

  • I remeber when first i saw this pete, it was for sale on truckpaper for 12,000

  • someone needs to learn to double clutch :)

  • @1982freightliner thanks man. I remember seeing one in a rig my dad used to drive but i was like 6 or 7 at the time so i didnt think to ask. lol

  • How many times can I click on the like button. This has to be my very favorite '71 video of them all. The best b b b boy's. FIVE stars. Look at them stars.

  • loud pipes save lives!

  • Aaah a '75...Year I was born :)

    Terrific rig man!

  • I just love the sound of them Jimmys at work...

  • That low gear !!! I bet it would pull the earth, you could hitch up to it ????

  • whats the lever on the steering column do? looks like an autotrans shifter but obviously its not

  • 4 people likes mufflers

  • love this truck!

  • even watching this video the sound is too much. I love a straight pipe diesel but this would give me a hell of a headache after about 10 mins. Rather go with a low-reving N14 or 3406

  • Comment removed

  • Hi HotRod man. i'm enjoying the video of the Peterbilt. Love the sound of that engine as it works. I'm in truck driving school tryin to be a truck driver as we speak :)

  • Hey grind me a pound too!

  • How much can this thing pull? I know nothing about big rigs. Nice truck though! I always watch logging shows on tv, they have newer trucks in the shop every few days.

  • Some real Rough Driving there

  • @mars188 At the time it needed to be rebushed really really really really bad, driving the truck down the road, the truck kind of just wanders around on the road, you felt like there was no control of the truck, taking those corners i thought i was going to end up in the ditch or something. Even on a straight road such as a drag strip, the truck was wandering all over the place

  • @Hotrodx199 Around here, that wouls wake the neigbors up. LOL Nice truck!

  • @Hotrodx199 Nothing like driving an old truck that likes to chase rabbits. My cousin's C-60 does the same thing. You have about a half turn of "nothing" in the steering. Crosswinds going over a bridge can make you pucker up pretty good.

  • hey heard you grinding those gears ever learned to double cluch wow i have that same year of truck that has the spicer 40 speed and strait cut gears with an 8v92 in front of it the 12v71 is cool but learn to shift embearising take notes

  • @alecluke844 only way to shift a 2 stroke is without the clutch, IMO clutch is for stopping not for shifting

  • yeah thats good for it a nine speed its reel tough to shift

  • Comment removed

  • how Im glad to see the 12 cylinder detroit running strong... ty

  • This is the greatest pete i have ever seen. Is it for sell?

  • What kind of mileage does this truck get? What is the power and torque output?

  • @maxhauler I do not know but the freighliner I used to drive had 12v71 topped out about 57 mph and only got 4 mpg, but when it came to pulling 100,000lbs up it hill it flat walked! when it got down to 1550rpm.

  • That's such a cool truck!

  • ever since they made truck engines electronic with all the computer shit they have been trash. i have a 74 pete with a 425 3406b cat and it pulls harder than my 99 kw with a 500 detroit

  • @MichaudTrucking379 ya thats that 4 stroke,I'm thinking 50seris Detroit.

  • @WKTEDDYBEAR

Series 60 is the one you're actually referring to. It is a 6-cylinder engine, whereas the Series 50 is the 4-cylinder derivative.

  • Comment removed

  • Respond to this video... yup, you are correct, I must have had a brain fart, meant 60 series, thanks

  • i love this sound

  • DUDE, i'm a CAT wrench and this gave meee wood. never actually heard a 2 stroke jaking---nice! thanks.

  • What was it used for?

  • detroits in general sound good...but with straight pipes I couldnt manage it for more than a couple hours, I use to drive euclids and wabco haul trucks with v12 detroits and I thought they sounded cool for the first day or so....then they start to give you a headache

  • this reminds of my road boss with the5:29's, a lot of noise for much longer than if you had 4:10's,11's,or 3:90's.;

  • The jake coming on sounds beautiful.

  • This is like an orgasm for my ears!

  • THAT is how you build a fuckin truck

  • That an original 12 Cylinder?

  • @Stetsonater Most detriot engines can be bolted together and have special parts that are added. The 12v seris is just 2 6V motors bolted together the only differnce is displacement, 6v71 or the 6v92. and if this isnt your answer, Yes you can order peterbilts with a 12v motor or a 16v but its rare except in heavy haulers. Most just use the C-16 Cat motors

  • @Darkmatter2134 Ok, I was wondering About that. Well those 2 6V's make a great pair. Thanks

  • @Darkmatter2134

If You really want to Know How they work, Don't listen to that guy.. a 12v71 Is ONE block with a single crank and two cyl heads, however say a 12v92.. that is two SPECIALLY MADE blocks bolted together with an also SPECIALLY MADE 2 piece crank shaft with 4 cylinder heads, you can't just take any detroit 2 stroke blocks and bolt them together, about the only thing a 12v71 and 12v92 have in common is that they both have 2 blowers

  • @Darkmatter2134 the 12v71 came out of factory as a v12 they were a single block, the 16v71 and 24v71 were joined blocks. and appears that 12v92 is a joined block as previously statedGMC made a gas v12 that was 2 v6 blocks bolted together

  • DO YOU STILL GOT THIS ONE

IT DID NICE AT THE TRACK.

  • rev the piss outta er

  • How much higher do the 2 strokes rev than the normal diesels?

  • @getdrunk1990 Well from the factory the 71 and 92 series rev to 2100 factory, but the 71 series will do 2600 with no hesitation at all. They like it up there

  • @Hotrodx199 search for big red express, it was warming up at 2,100 and also the corn field corvette hit 4,000 on its burnoff

  • @Hotrodx199

Generally a 2-stroke sounds higher in pitch than would a 4-stroke-cycle engine at the same governed speed, whether it's 2100 RPM or 2600 RPM.

  • @ClassicTVMan1981X Yeah, 2100 on like a 12v71 or anything 2 stroke sounds like it's turning 4000

  • @Hotrodx199 same idea really as 2 stroke vs 4 stroke petrol in a sense

  • @Hotrodx199 i betcha when yall had her firewalled she was happy. sayin " i like it here. " lol. bet you that thing would pull a house without batting an eyelash

  • @getdrunk1990 a normal diesel will typically only rev to say.. 1800, 2000 maybe.

  • bitchin' rig...

  • Always good to redline a diesel

  • Comment removed

  • Love them 2 strokes, the sound is awesome

  • what is the red fuel truck at 0:50

  • @MattytheDem a 1951 Peterbilt. This is getting a V12 dropped in it.

  • @Hotrodx199 needlenose?

  • @MattytheDem I think its a long hood needle nose idk

  • @Hotrodx199 is this true about the red needle nose? is he really puttin a v12 in it. If u can get some shots of it that be awsome id love too see this project.

  • @Unlimited3406 It wont be for awhile yet, but it's definitely getting a 12v71 in it.

  • I have a 1968 Peterbilt Cabover that we are droping an 8V71 Detroit

  • Just becuz im black don't mean i don't appriciate the sound of straight pipes i actually have an 89 chevy 4x4 with pipes and i love waking up the neighbor hood

about six in the morning or leaving out going to a fire. so not all black people love rims and rap music. seing them cars with the big ass rim piss me off rims cost more than the car.

  • @bulldogcheverolet What does being black have to do with anything?Where I come from(Chicago)People are human beings regardless of race.I was never raised to have hatred towards people because of thier race.

  • @bulldogcheverolet lol i love your comment,,, made me lol... ( 01lb7 duramax with mods)

  • @bulldogcheverolet amen to that my friend. i had a slightly built harley my neighbours knew very well because of its sound lol. i would ride it in january. ( warming it up for maybe 10 minutes before i left. @ 6am. we all have our loud toys here. so we kinda get along. as long as were all feelin good. not sick etc. then we have courtesy and keep it low

  • @bulldogcheverolet your the man lol

  • NICE TRUCK!!

  • LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES ! I drive an old piece of shit crown school bus, it's loud, has a shitty ride, and smells bad, I would not give up my poor shifting, loud ass, stinky bus for anything. I've listened to it for many yrs. now and still love it

  • As someone who has driven many, many 2-stroke Detroits....... This noise gets real old after awhile. Play this tape over and over for the next 12 hours....then again tomorrow, then the next day... then day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year.........

  • That is one good sounding truck ! I haul pulpwood with a 1980 white with a straight piped 8v92 detroit everyday , wouldnt take nothing for it !

  • this truck sounds awesome...especially when the jake brake comes on

  • thats what a real truck sounds like my grandpa had a 72 cabover kw with the 318 detroit

  • @JGMagoo This "piece of shit" will cost less to maintain then these newer REAL pieces of shit that are in the shop by the month because they always throw codes. No codes to throw here.

  • @Hotrodx199 Fuck what that guy said about this being a piece of shit!! This truck is a beast and is a fine example of beautiful detroit muscle!!!

  • @Hotrodx199 RTO-12513 means that its a Eaton Fuller, Roadranger, twincountershaft, overdrive, rated at 1,200 foot lbs of torque, (not sure what 5 stands for, 6 is for a multimeshing gear), and it has 13 foward speeds. Not sure if you know that. I just thought its cool!

  • @Hotrodx199 that's right i'd rather be drivin a old vehicle then a new one, there just way easyer to work on and have better personality/i love your truck man!

  • @Hotrodx199 I second your comment. Also, a stock Jimmy is probablly louder than most of the new pieces of shit out there, so any sound ordnance has already been assfucked.

  • @Hotrodx199 you got that right i drive a 2008 mack for my company and that shit is always having an issue constantly derating, signal light problems just all types of little shit really agravating

  • @Hotrodx199 I agree with you 100%. I have a 2010 freightliner with the cummins engine, and only 5500 miles on her, and she has been in the shop 4 time's already. These new truck's are a joke. I use to have an international with the 671 detroit in it, had tremendous miles on her and she never skipped a beat. Rarely shopped for mechanical problems. A true diesel. Now we have these new shitbox diesel's with particulate filter's and computers on em and they suck!

  • @CSXtrackworker Gotta love the EPA.

  • @Darkmatter2134 Man, the EPA can suck a fat cock! I just got a brand new freightliner at work last dec. Only has 5600 miles on it and this is the third time it is going into the shop for repairs to be made to the emission's shit that is on it. It fucking sucks!!!

  • @CSXtrackworker I used to work at Peterbilt, most of the guys tell me anymore they just patch the new trucks up enough to get them to the next shop cause they are all junk. Why do you think CAT got out of the truck engine market before the emissions crap came into effect.

  • @Darkmatter2134 I agree with you on that. This new truck I have is garbage. No wonder why so many driver's are rebuilding their older diesel's. They are quality and last! That is good info. I did not know that about cat. I don't blame em.

  • @Hotrodx199 Thats right! No stupid DPF and aftertreatment crap.

  • @Hotrodx199 The beauty of a DD. You'd think that because it's a 2 stroke that it'd die sooner, but these trucks hold up long as hell

  • @JGMagoo And you're the kind of guy that I'd LOVE to ride by your house in a truck like this Pete, with a good running start, and keep on hitting the Jakes the whole way.

  • @JGMagoo The reason why your country hand's out fine's is because it does not know real truck's. Plus it is filled with whiney cry babies!! So of course you would agree with this policy!

  • @JGMagoo Fucking Commie Bastard! No wonder you have such a shitty economy. We encourage black smoke and loud pipes in the USA!

  • Comment removed

  • @JGMagoo We also carry guns! European assholes!

  • @JGMagoo im sure you couldnt pay this guy to deliver anything short of an ass whooping to you smart ass prick nobody cares about ur personal preferences you arent the utmost authority on what is and what aint FUCK OFF

  • @JGMagoo oh waaaa, drive your fuckin prius and shut up. maybe you should be damn cop

  • @PowerlabsDiesel you right man.5*****

  • @PowerlabsDiesel you right man.5***** :-)

  • @JGMagoo shut the fuck up nigger muther fucker you must be one of them city fuckers cause around we drives loud jacked up trucks,as a matter a fact i drive a 89' dodge power ram straight pipe 10 inch lift 40" mud boggers on it,you fuckin ass hole i'd rather walk then drive a new vehicle cause there bilt better back in the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @JGMagoo you are fat.

  • @JGMagoo you can take your new trucks and pay all the expensive maintenance bills that go with those computer controlled pieces of junk. I'll take a real truck over them any day of the week!

  • @JGMagoo you sir fail!!!

  • @JGMagoo well your nice sounding trucks will suck all life vs this old school trucks. you may have electronic engines that will throwing codes anytime & you will expend alot of money getting repaired. So u have piece of shit. I drive a 89 t600 444 cummins with 3.70 rears & no electronic truck pass me @ any hill with lighter loads.

  • where can you buy these engines?

  • @OutlaWk1d They are hard to find, most likely you will have to find 1 at a bone yard and buy a rebuild kit for it,cause these 12/7 are old engines,or you might be able to find them from a greyhound bone yd all you have to do is turn the engine around,,but they are really hard to find 1 in good shape

  • Where can you bu these engines

  • I love this video and that particular teuck.. Thanks Hotrod!!
