I'm pretty sure we dont hear things backwards, even subconsiously. To have played something in reverse we are then hearing that reversed clip in a forwards manner; see what im getting at? Our brains will then be working very hard to make sense out of that jumbled up noise into words we recognise with those sound patterns.
