  • Is that Lancaster Catholic?

  • this is a fun song to play

  • There aren't enough tuba players at my school for this :(

Muahaha I still get the solo (in our arrangement of it :D)

  • are these real contras or convertibles?

  • @Gala63100 Looks like convertibles (the ones on the far left are definitely convertibles).

  • Love it, this is great!

  • Give them a real man's contra.

  • god i wish i was that tuba section

  • niiice! :D

  • I want contras at my school so bad. me and my tuba bro there play freaking loud though, we are part of an only 49 member marching band, and took third place at state competition this year, to a 153 member marching band, beating 5 bands over 130 and the rest of the twelve at least 30 members bigger than us.

  • @TubaTJ My grandson's band has 153 members. They won 1st place in flight II & were the grand champions of the MCBA Michigan chamionships. The tubas & low brass were arranged heavily into their show Tempest's Fury. I uploaded their band camp performance (look in my videos) and you can find their practice at GVSU the night before our state competition. Listen for the low brass parts. I think you just might enjoy them. I'm convinced these strong low brass parts & percussion pushed us over the top.

  • Type this into the search: Tempest's Fury @GVSU Turf Building

  • @TubaTJ I thought when you said 153 band member you could be talking about Jenison. I am going to search for your band. I hope someone has posted a youtube of your 2011 show. Julian says Jenison wants this type of tuba, too because he says they sound better.

  • @EmpressOfWyoming58 If they are the Yamaha 201 convertibles, then they are awesome, best investment as a tuba a high school can make.

  • @LtGerbal Check out my grandson's marching band's 2011 show, Tempest's Fury. There is a lot of good low brass in the arrangement of the music. I am convinced that the low brass helped them place first in state this year. Put this in your search. It's about 9 minutes of some of the most chill inspiring music I've heard a high school band play, especially the low brass. Search : Jenison Band, Bands of America Grand National Prelam performance

  • duuuuuude contra tuba is easy as fuuuuuck to play :D i love it

  • HAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY BABY

  • this is ok but not better than The RHS Orange Wave Band

  • them things are awesome, I wanna play one!

  • So many contras, My school cant afford to even rent contras and can only afford to have two and a half sousaphones in working order. But me and the other tuba player, we both had to switch from baritone, can play louder than these guys.

  • @johnbaratta092494 doubtful. Westchester has a great brass line.

  • if i had a contra, id play this to my girlfriend in my free time

  • 14 tubas for high school... REALLY?? we have 2.. we have outplayed 10 before..

  • @END1701 My highschool will have 3 or 4 next year, and that seems like a lot for us. Our band isn't even 100 members this year, though.

  • @END1701 my school also has 2 and we out played 10+ before

  • i could never in a million years play a contra!!!! lol. im just sticking with a susa. contras scare me. lol.

  • Me and some of the 8th grade band played with the high school marching band. We couldnt play alot some of the stuff they did but they played Hey Baby and i sang but couldnt play the sax part... SO FREAKIN AMAZING AND FUN!!!

  • i can play this on my tuba!!

  • i like the tuba

  • i cant stop humming this in class, i almost got detention so i shouldnt be watching this

  • Sousaphones beat tuba

  • @Steelwall44 Contras beat sousa's and tubas lol

  • uuuhhh that part at the beginning sounded horrible... plus did you guys hear that lesbian at 0:25?

  • omg, i play trombone and trumpet, i need one of these, bring it to school, and my band class would be like what the fuuucck???

  • this and the sousaphone are the real marching tubas,, but this takes brass from low to, holy shit thats low

  • i play bari, i play this with the tubas at my school :) i help out alot ;D lots of respect for the tuba/sousaphone. definate foundation.

  • All the girls in my marching band sing "if you'll be my guy!" mb all i gotta say

  • Those things seem real hard to play with it on your sholder. damn..

  • out of the highschool and middleschool, thers only 1 of these

  • not fair

  • At my school, we just call this tuba song.

  • what are the notes to this?! lol

  • i wish my school had contras, i lyk sousaphones, but i really want to try contras lmfao

  • Traitors! Sousaphones forever!

  • @DatMafiaKitteh Sousaphones unite!!! :D

  • @Joren1122 these arnt sousaphones, sousaphones go around your body, not on your shoulder.

  • @mw2addictish I didn't say they were sousaphones... I was replying to someone elses comment. He said "Traitors! Sousaphones forever!" and I replied "Sousaphones unite!"

  • @Joren1122 oh srry

  • Traitors! Sousaphones forever!

  • I wish we had a good amount of tuba players and tubas all we got is a lonely 6

  • I wish our band had that many tubas and tuba players all we got is a lonely 6

  • Holy crap! You guys have so many more Contras then our band!! We only have 4, but you guys sounds pretty good (: BUT... Trumpets are better (:

  • I love playing this song on my Sousaphone, and one more thing: WHY CAN'T MY BAND HAVE THIS MANY TUBA PLAYERS!?!?!?!?!?

  • I'm glad to see a high school marching with these. Now, if they can just stop playing in "splatissimo" it would be great!

  • who sing this song??

  • who sing this song?

  • @provincias11 Bruce Channel

  • That was pretty cool

  • Balls?

  • in soviet russia tubas sing to YOU!!

  • Guys, they're just tubas, stop clucking like the chickens you sound like and enjoy it. from the year ive known how to play tuba ive learned its beautiful, awesome, and all that nonsense no matter the size or tuning.

  • The slur Eb Db i think is kinda ruined when you do it everytime..lol

  • That must suck to carry that I play the sousaphone and Its easy yall gotzzzzzz some balls

  • Speedway High School swings this song, and it sounds a lot better that way. :P

  • That's a tuba?

  • What note do these guys start off on because I'm a new tuba player and I have to play this tonight for a football game?

  • And not to be a smart ass but the original contras were tuned in the key of G or E flat???? I forget

  • Personally playing the contra is a lot less of a pain in the ass and you dont have to worry about the fking bell be put on the wrong way... Contras are a projectional instrument vs the Sousas open and less direct sound

  • Who's sing the original song!?!?

  • A sousaphone would be so much easier than carrying a concert tuba on your shoulder like that.

  • @Patbad73 the reason we do it is because its awsome!!!

  • @Patbad73 Actually, the concert tuba is a lot lighter and more efficient than a sousaphone. At least in my opinion. It also allows for more visuals and the bell won't fall off if you fling it around too much.

  • @Patbad73 That isn't technically a concert tuba. It is a contra, which is short for contrabass bugle, and is used in Drum and Bugle Corps. A bugle is just a valved brass instrument, and they used to be all tuned in Bb. This are probably tuned to the BBb. That is most common for Contras.

  • @FrenchHornGuru1 Still, a sousaphone would be easier to hold than balancing that thing on your shoulder, wouldn't it?

  • @Patbad73 Yeah I guess. Keep in mind that I am not an expert, for I actually play Mellophone, but I have researched the subject. Haha

  • Not bad

  • fuck

  • @95dyl what the hell are they ;playing

  • Watch TJ Band from Pittsburgh they play it the right way. That band literally rocks the house.

  • cd tfgyjhk,

  • We just learned this song at Jensen beach high school!!! Were pretty good

  • I already did it at my high school :3

  • does anyone realize just how amazing it would be to do this at YOUR high school?

  • It's dry:(

  • ♥ This song is amazing !

One of my fellow tuba players is going to give me a copy of the sheet music tomorrow at bandcamp :D

  • Yes! My band plays this, but we swing it. (:

  • I cannot wait to get back to school to do stuff like this

  • muy bien....mis respetos....

  • hey do u have the music sheet?

  • Comment removed

  • i LOVE THE CONTRA!!!!

  • Im a fellow contra player and we just adopted this song. Great job guys!

  • I hate this fucking song. As, a tuba player, it gets annoying after hearing it played 1000 times badly at every high school band festival by each respective tuba section.

  • contras totally make a better sound than sousies..............plus contras are for real tuba players :)

  • hey! i heard this song on another vid, and i just come across this video randomly and got the song name!!! YES THANK YOU!!!!

  • I thought WCU had contras, not convertibles.

  • at least these tuba players have balls. and don't use sissy sousas. Great playing! and nice sounding band haha

  • I think its funny how everyone talks so much shit haa but i freakin love this song!! Me and my tubas play it all the time theres only 5 of us but 2 suck so they dont count but were prolly louder and they should add some visuals into it

  • what are the notes please?

  • where can i find sheet music for this?

  • contras heck YES !!!!!!!!!!!!! i love them

  • sousaphones are for pussys thoes marching tubas are the best

  • interesting to see marching tubas instead of sousaphones but on this song you have to be louder than the singing

  • My band director like banned this song from ever being played or something like that.....

  • Now this is juicy...how many euphoniums are there.....

  • i prefer a sousaphone when i march

  • all the tubas aren't together the whole time

  • One time at a football game, we were all getting food at the third quarter and we didn't all get back in time, but we were told to play this, so we screwed up and had to stop in the middle. Guess what? The dipshits in the other band who were all fully prepared decided to play the same thing, only they had more members, played it louder, and finished it.

  • we have 4 tubas and there louder than this

  • ya tuba love baby! haha although thats not all i play O.o what school is this? it looks like spanish springs high scholl's marching uniforms

  • @drewgorawr West Chester High School

  • this is completely crap, first contras don't have as much of a full sound (that's why their pieces of shit). oh and i marched with one for 2 years, im now on a yamha ysh 411 sousaphone. its way better. problem two. they have no tone(i blame the contra) and no articulation(i blame the player). gosh they suck. oh and if they were black those problems wouldn't exist. instead you would worry about them stealin your stuff or fucking you mom/gf/daughter etc.. lol

  • can i get the sheet music plz

  • i want to play one of those SOOOOO bad!

  • so slow

  • Awesome video! That looks like a lot of fun!

  • are those G or BBb contras? they sound like BBb's but im unsure.

  • Contras are so much better than Sousas, Sousas are fun to mess around on and all that stuff, but if you want Tone, then go with a Contrabass Bugle.

  • anyone have the music for that intro part...i get to start this song off next year...

  • nice guys :) i like thiss

  • they sound very bright...its probably the convertibles

  • not one black person? contras arent even tubas

  • That is racist, Not All Tuba Players have to be black. And Contras are primarily used now in Marching bands because it has better tone, stays in tune, cheaper prices and more portable than Sousaphones.

  • @Tuba408Bass all i was doing was pointing out an obvious fact. i never said all tuba players have to be black. and contras are used very rarely in southern high school marching band. contras may be more prominent in northern high school marching bands though

  • A contra is short for contrabass bugle, what they used to (and sometimes still) march in drum and bugle corp. They're pitched in G, mean your normal Bb partial would be the G below it. They're monsters and have a lot more balls than a Bb tuba in my opinion. These here are marching tubas, maybe convertables but those are usually like 3/4 size. Either way they're badass.

  • we march regular concert tubas with a special moughpiece tubing thing that lets them march like that on the one sholder.

  • they used to use half sousaphones, half contras. the switch to all contras was like 4 or 5 years ago

  • @Zombbg4 contras are bad ass, i would know cause im in marching band, i play tuba, and my school uses contras :D

  • @Zombbg4 wait so these tubas are G i thought they were in Bb

  • @mat10911 These are probably in Bb.

  • @Zombbg4 contrabass tuba

  • @Zombbg4 yeah these are 3/4 convertibles... they have 4/4 in Bb for legit drum and bugle corps

  • @Zombbg4 i dont quite understand how you rationalize them having alot more balls than a Bb 4/4 size since they are 3/4 size???...C 6/4 now they got the balls

  • @Tomthetuba666 Larger bore, more open, take a lot of air= hefty balls. Sure a 6/4 CC has balls, that's because it's oversized. If you ever get the chance to play similarly sized Bb and CC tubas you'll notice the difference, then imagine of the open partial gap was a step and a half different instead of just 1 step. Balls dude, balls.

  • @Zombbg4 oh, brain fart... i thought you said sousaphone.. sure i agree contra> tuba but its Sousa > Contra hands down

  • I WANT A CONTRA!!!!!!

  • Cheap tubas.

  • oh my god i played this last last year on the trumpet! too bad i sucked :P but now i play the tuba and now i wanna know notes for this.

  • This is pretty awesome

  • lucky the one time my section leader tried to play that(on the tuba) he got yelled at by our instructor

  • mike bishop 0:20????

  • AHHH i love playing tht @ my HS

  • Dude we have those exact same suses!

  • more like convertibles... dipshit

  • OMG SO MANY TUBASSS THATS SEXY!!!!

  • Faster, and add that bar they took out.

  • Naw, it sounds better slower.

  • To a certain extent.

  • we played this the other day

  • Shouldn't ya play the sousaphone?

  • That's what I ment.

  • I play tuba at my High School, and we play this song. :D

  • lolz, tuba note at the intro. nice video :)

  • those are crappy horns....looks like 3/4 concert tubas that u can switch to marching tubas....not contras

  • contras are better. just these guys suck.

  • fuck you bro

  • bazooka tubas<3333

  • that doesnt sound like a contra should

  • I hope you did put a vid up.

  • someone just said listen to Famu sousas for good quality...

don't get me wrong I love Famu and other showbands to death but there is a huge difference between good tone and blaring..which is what they mostly do...but hey, I could be wrong.

yeah...I way way way prefer contras in every way shape and form..they were created specifically for marching

  • best pep song ever!

  • im so jealous i love 'bazooka tubas' as i like to call em i play a sousa and while these look so much cooler than sousas you cant have much fun with em!!

  • ive nevr heard this song but is sooo catchy!!

  • what notes r u guys playing????

  • haha. this is amazing.

  • Who is in This Video if i may ask.

  • Walnut High sings better than this

  • Susaphones are lot more comfortable than those tubas

  • soo true lol. i started playing tuba in jan and we don't own a sousaphone but for this marching season i somehow got my band director to rent us one for me =]

  • No they're not. Sousaphones hurt my shoulder! Those don't! [I don't play for these guys, but I do play with one of those!]
