I'm thinking of making a doom/prog band. I'm a six string bassist (BEADF#B) and would probably hire another bassist (all bass yo). My influences aren't crap mallcore (like nS4neone) and include Meshuggah, Manowar, Skepticism, Thergothon, Deathspell Omega, Craft, Necromantia, Dissection, Rotting Christ, among others. Think Meshuggah's slower stuff (like this) over classically inspired melodies with chunky ass bass. All I need is a drummer (for now) and I'm set.

Dumb idea. Don't use two bassists. One bassist is enough. Really, two bass sounds will 'conflict' on the album. TOo much low end is never good. Two guitars can have different settings and still sound like guitars but two basses will always have a good amount of bass (go figure) so they'll conflict and it'll sound like crap.

I have a 6 string bass, it sounds 50/50 like guitar and bass. It also has active EQ, so I can eq one track like a guitar or whatever. It should work well with doom metal, since doom needs a lot of bass anyway.

A tip on the difficult drum section starting at 2:48 (in case you didn't already know): The rhythm is exactly the same as the very beginning section: the only difference is, instead of playing the whole rhythm on bass, it's bass and snare (the snare is played to match up with the higher of the two guitar pitches used). Minding this should make it easier to learn. I hope this helps; it's difficult to describe verbally but hopefully it made sense haha
