I spend my birthday up at the farm .They were a hard working bunch !I think a good many baby boomer woodstockers have sold out for themselves and left the kids behind. The viagra commercials and such shows how far we have come as boomers.
Stephen is a true teacher, a real guy and someone who changed my life. It's been thirty five years since I lived on The Farm but it has always stayed with me. I see him every once in a while and it's always fresh and real. He was the first eclectic teacher I met and the best. Thank God for Stephen in my life and thank you Stephen for saving my ass!........Scott Salzman
1st heard of him on KQED in SF as a teen in the late 60's. Read his books. He influenced me along with Timothy Leary, Alan Watts, Hesse, & Malcolm X. Alan Watts was the only one I saw/heard live.
My ex and I used to drop in to the Monday night class at the beach by the old Cliff House in San Francisco. He sure had a great way of expressing complicated issues at a complicated time. Great bunch of people to hang with too. Glad things are going so well for all. He certainly helped me form a philosophy to live by. Thanks to him and the family.
Truly, Stephen was one of the greatest influences on my life and many others. I still use his "teachings" every day in my work with children. (I am a Waldorf Kindergarten teacher) He has helped me become more aware of energy and goodness.
Though I never lived on the "Farm", I was deeply influenced by what I read and I continue to pass this understanding on to the little ones.
I lived at The Farm just for a few months in 1974 or 1975. Stephen had just gotten out of jail where he was put for marijuana possession. I was there when he came back and gave his first talks after jail. He was a very thoughtful, sincere person, I really liked him a lot. I was only 19. The Farm itself was iffy, some nice people, some real assholes. I remember they had a general store where everything was free. No one was allowed to smoke pot while Steven was in jail. It was a fun experience.
God bless you Youtubers for putting these videos o here!! I was regular at the 'Monday night class" back in SF a million years ago. I came back to Vermont cuz I couldn't wait for the Class to get the bus caravan organized. Steve is a magnetic, amazing, and amazingly GOOD being. Love him. He talked so comprehensively on everything, he was amazing.
@hamwinkie: Stephen Gaskin is born in 1935. So now, he's 72 years old. when you want you can look at his webpage. He initiates the project ,,The Farm'' in Summertown.

I had forgotten about him, what a shame. It had been over 35 years though since I thought of him. Is he alive? He would have to be in his late 70s??
