  • KhanhLy & TrinhCongSon giống như Mây và Gió, Mây(Mai) thiếu Gió thì không thể bay xa được...

    Subarashii.

  • tuyệt vời, Khánh Ly hát bài này thì hay nhất rồi :)

  • This song is about a beautiful Hue's girl, it is special because it's not like another Hue love song, it is fully affected by Trinh Cong Son's style.

  • すばらしいの一言に尽きる。中国の女性にいったらぜひ聞きたい、送ってくれと言う。仕方が無い、谷村さんのCDと「美しき昔」探しに歩いた。普段歩き慣れないので10キロ歩いたら折からの夕日で、「地の果て」まで探したように思った。

  • ok ok ok...fine...I give up...don't need yer explaination anymore :/

  • I've never heard a Vietnamese singer singing Japanese. How interesting. Wow. quite an interesting spin for a SE Asian voice to sing an East Asian language.

  • yearh, I also recognized that it was not Khank Ly 's voice in Japanese version. this voice sound lighter than hers

  • It is actually her voice. Different language implies different tone of your voice. It is a specificity of the vocal chords.

  • That is definitely the voice of the Legendary Khanh Ly.

  • FYI, "Diem" in "Diem xua" is the name of a lovely girl. "Trinh Cong Son", the author of this song, loved her very much, when was in Hue, the former capital of Vietnam. He watched her passing in front of his house, on the way to high school, day by day. That's a romantic love story but ...

By the way, is there anyone who can translate "Japanese" version of this song into English or Vietnamese so that I can understand. I wonder if it's same as original one.

Sincerely / Quang Anh (from Vietnam)

  • I don't think "Diem" is the name of a lovely girl like you said. It could be a different meaning, "Diem" means beauty, charm. "Diem Xua" means old charm.

  • I'll try to find some evidence for you.

"Diem xua" means "Diem" of the past.

By the way, where are you from ? Are you from Vietnam ?

  • That's not quiet right. Mr. Trinh is very careful in choosing words to put in his songs. So that, there is no way to make a really normal title like you thought.

    I am not in Vietnam.

  • There are several meanings of this title, if we consider the fact that one word can have several meansing. Originally, it's simple. But your thinking may be right, Diem also means "charm". Anyway, i'lll provide some information to convince you later. I'm pretty buzy recently.

Also, where are you from ?

  • I am from U.S

  • WE have to sing this for viet class ;-;

  • Wushu17, how old are you? Very... very young and you feel hurt when everyone saying this is Vietnamese song eventhough it has been sung over and over in your memory through your childhood since Vietnamese singer Khanh Ly visited and performed this Trinh Cong Son's song at the World Expo'70 Osaka. Just a mistake, well we are all Trinh Cong Son's fans.

  • Lovely memory. Rain still raining over ancient tower. Waiting for your long arms causes pale eyes. Listen to sound the little heels stirring leaves along the long-winded road causes deeper eyes. Rain still raining over row of green leaves. Wait fir rain trip still me, each dusk. Quietly leaves fall over your steps....

...Darling! How do you know cenotaph does not hurt? Please let rain to come over opened-land, later gravel and rock too need each other.

  • Khanh Ly is the legand.

  • ベトナム戦争を想い出します。勇気のある作曲家と歌い手

    によって語り継がれた名曲ですね。NHKで、アメリカへ

    亡命したその後の彼女を、映し出していました。

  • 本家本元カイン・リーですね!日本では天童よしみや加藤登紀子でお馴染みの"美しき昔"本人が同じステージに立ってくれた事が嬉しいですね。改めて作曲者チンコンソン氏のご冥福を祈ります。

  • Thankyou for this video. :)

  • excellent, no words can describe

  • Who taught to you?

That the love which wasn't known so far is in the end of the red ground.

Is it wind? Is it person's rumor?

Though it was good when you didn't know love.

When it did so, I could keep dreaming a dream near you eternally now, too.

You look for love in the end of the ground now, and disappear into the rain.

  • Khanh Ly the singer who exiled itself from south Vietnam to America.

For thirty years front, it became the insertion song of the Japanese teleplay, and it was translated into Japanese.

The end of the red ground is north Vietnam.

The love of the end of the ground is communism.

t was a love song .The woman who lived in south Vietnam grieved over a lover's going north for the battle.

  • Thank you for your translation of the Japanese lyrics. I know this is a Vietnamese song and I understand the original lyrics. But I was just curious what the Japanese lyrics mean, and, it turns out that the Japanese lyrics mean entirely different from the original, but according to your explanation, the Japanese lyrics still carries a lot of meaning. Thanks for clarifying this. どうもありがどう!

  • wait. if khanh ly sings this, then, she can sing japanese! wow!

  • is it japanese? It is awesome

  • Yes, it's japanese.

  • Hi, would you please translate the Japanese lyrics into English? Such a beautiful song deserves to be understood in any languages. Thank you very much for your considerations.

  • This song is not a Japanese song.

It is a Vietnamese song.I don't know Vietnamese.

It becomes a reason from Japanese words.

  • Nice clip.

  • Beautiful scenery. It's rather funny to hear the song in Japanese though. I like it in Vietnamese better, like it is at the end of the video - but then I miss the scenery!

  • Uprouting CSVN-Vietnamese Communist for TCS coming-out and blooming. Where there is Vietnamese Communist you will not have TCS. CSVN regime itself let not anything like free-spirited TCS come-out and prosper. Enjoy TCS and Do Things to Preserve the Next Birth of Free-Spirited TCS.

  • ahhh qu'elle belle chanson. khan ly chante toujours cette chanson avec autant de passion =).

(pour ceux qui ne le sauront pas, la version original est vietnamien =D.

  • i didnt know she sing in japanese! i still like she sings in vietnamese better

  • Call to my memory about this song, 1st time performed by Khanh Ly at the World Expo'70 Osaka, Japan under japanese title "Utsukushii Mukashi", then my friends and me sang this song in japanese at the university of Saigon - recently performed again in Japan by Yoshimi Tendo. Unforgettable!

Thank you for sharing this video.

  • Thanks so much for posting this!
