How is the spoon attached to the mast? Details, please! Ice-sailing opportunity coming up, "once in a lifetime" chance.

It's all very simple.

Downhaul the sail as usual. Then just put the bottom end of the mast extension into the spoon and push the handle of the spoon up the mast sleeve of the sail. Wrap the remainder of the downhaul line around the handle a few times, tighten and secure the line.

There is no extra device or fastening equipment apart from the spoon itselt!
