This isn't so bad. The only mistake he made was thinking that Drew said higher on $730 instead of $720. What would you start doing with 4 seconds left on the clock and you think the price is lower than $731 and higher than $730? Although, with that logic, he would've said $730.99 instead of $731.99. I will attribute that to the panicking as well.
Should have realized that there's an unwritten rule that allows the player to just say the last two digits of the prize, provided that they know the first digit of the prize.
It doesn't matter what kind of error it was, other than simply a slip of the tongue (which isn't much of an excuse either, especially considering it happened a second time), that led to the .99 bids. It's still a million-trillion times more likely that someone made an error than the price actually is in cents.
The misheard wasn't even close to ruining him. Either ditching even a couple of the "dollars, dollars" or not bidding IN CENTS would have helped.
I know Fingers is Giving Us The Finger a lot, but if there's cents in Clock Game prices, you aren't winning to begin with. Think if something actually makes sense before going out of the ordinary like that.
