Anime is so creatively dull now. Nothing but panty shots and idiots rehashing the same fight over and over. Could you imagine Masashi Kishimoto doing something like this? Doubt it.
@alvinkuo777 Also some Russians: Mussorgski, and Tchaikovski's fourth symphony set to "Legend of the Forest". Maybe it was Fantasia rather than the actual composers that influenced him to make the crossovers. Space Firebird however is in a league of its own with that original score. Sublime.
That was so beautiful. I watched this clip many times and it had a deep impact on me. Sighs it is sad in these days that we dont have that talent anymore like Osamu Tezuka. We rely on computer graphics in these days in order to make an anime, but the anime in these days are so boring and soulless. Osamu Tezuka we dearly miss you!
That was marvelous, truly touching. This man was on a level that others couldn't understand, though he was very well revered of course. Most people go about watching the cartoons of today for laughs and cheap jokes, and that is all well and good...but this is what a MASTER does, no, DID using the medium.
@pavlovich74 Your comment is a year old but I hope you can tell me something about Miyazaki's comments of Tezuka. What were his throught son Tezuka's pessimism? I know for a children's writer Tezuka had some very stark Buddhist sorrow in there !
It is kind of like how children believe in imaginary friends, fairies and angels, and then are told that they don't exist when their older. We get disillusioned when we are older and lose our imaginations and belief in things greater than us as we get entangled in our adult minds.
@Mocharedcutie: This piece is called "Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune" by Claude Debussy. Also known as "Prelude to the Afternoon of the Faun". :) Another great cartoon version of this is at watch?v=YRwIrZ1NSiQ
That was beautiful. It has such a strong meaning to it. The mermaid wa just so pretty too. I loved how the boy wouldn't despair and kept on believing it was a mermaid :).

Debussy and Tezuka: An unexpected yet perfect match!
Seems like Tezuka has a thing for French composers of that time: Ravel and Debussy.

After loving the man's work for many years I bought the "Experimental Films" DVD, now I really see the genius of the man.
Even though Miyazaki writes about the negatives of Tezuka's pessimism I still see art and innovation in every frame.

The fact that Tezuka manged to tell a emotional story with a very simple animation style and NO dialogue whatsoever is amazing.
My hat is bowed Tezuka. My hat is bowed.

@HazyChase20 I've always believed that music and movement are a combination that has not yet been matched. No dialogue is ever needed. Pure genius.
