  • This > a recent movies

  • @datGAO でも「人間」としての彼は死んだのではないかな・・・。

  • Osamu Tezuka > Pixar

  • o.m...g....I FUCKIN LOVE IT :DDDDD

  • This was obviously a jab at the USSR or Communism.

  • could they make the mermaid's boobs any bigger?! >.>

  • Anime is so creatively dull now. Nothing but panty shots and idiots rehashing the same fight over and over. Could you imagine Masashi Kishimoto doing something like this? Doubt it.

  • only people who have dream and imagination can find a magic

  • Wonderful!! That story was beautifully told!!

  • Beautiful , great and touching !!

Tezuka is the God-Father of manga and anime !

  • Wonderful! Debussy and Tezuka-sama combined. The forces of art!

  • Debussy and Tezuka: An unexpected yet perfect match!

Seems like Tezuka has a thing for French composers of that time: Ravel and Debussy.

  • @alvinkuo777 Also some Russians: Mussorgski, and Tchaikovski's fourth symphony set to "Legend of the Forest". Maybe it was Fantasia rather than the actual composers that influenced him to make the crossovers. Space Firebird however is in a league of its own with that original score. Sublime.

  • Wow, I wasn't expecting such a deep story in such a short short! This was a very pleasant surprise. Very sad, but also happy at the same time.

  • A perfect story, a perfect faith.

  • Awh~ Such a pretty story :D

    Such a nice ending tooo~ Hehe :D

  • Tezuka, is god!

  • awww that is a cute ending

  • Wow.

  • Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun was used brilliantly here, just gorgeous.

  • that's what they do to gay people back in the days.

  • What does this anime mean to us?

  • @seico711familymart this isn't an anime dear, just because it is japanese..

  • That was so beautiful. I watched this clip many times and it had a deep impact on me. Sighs it is sad in these days that we dont have that talent anymore like Osamu Tezuka. We rely on computer graphics in these days in order to make an anime, but the anime in these days are so boring and soulless. Osamu Tezuka we dearly miss you!

  • cute and sad History I love Master Tezuka

  • my god so beautiful, i´m crying right now, the god of manga

  • That was beautiful

  • Aaww... It sort of reminds me of Apollo's Song, except Shogo wasn't as gentle...

  • they used tickling as a tourture??? =( so he's imaginative whats the big deal?

  • That was marvelous, truly touching. This man was on a level that others couldn't understand, though he was very well revered of course. Most people go about watching the cartoons of today for laughs and cheap jokes, and that is all well and good...but this is what a MASTER does, no, DID using the medium.

  • @CoolCooties

I'm glad theres someone else who agree with me. :) Hes just that amazing, though I think there could be a better word for it. <3

  • After loving the man's work for many years I bought the "Experimental Films" DVD, now I really see the genius of the man.

Even though Miyazaki writes about the negatives of Tezuka's pessimism I still see art and innovation in every frame.

  • @pavlovich74 Your comment is a year old but I hope you can tell me something about Miyazaki's comments of Tezuka. What were his throught son Tezuka's pessimism? I know for a children's writer Tezuka had some very stark Buddhist sorrow in there !

  • It is kind of like how children believe in imaginary friends, fairies and angels, and then are told that they don't exist when their older. We get disillusioned when we are older and lose our imaginations and belief in things greater than us as we get entangled in our adult minds.

  • that was beatiful

  • beatiful piece of art, is so smooth and really touch your heart in deep way. genius

  • The fact that Tezuka manged to tell a emotional story with a very simple animation style and NO dialogue whatsoever is amazing.

My hat is bowed Tezuka. My hat is bowed.

  • @HazyChase20 I've always believed that music and movement are a combination that has not yet been matched. No dialogue is ever needed. Pure genius.

  • Yup.

  • this is a wonderful piece, and another reason why Tezuka is my hero trough i do believe he was on something at that time

  • What was the name of the musical piece that was playing?

  • @Mocharedcutie: This piece is called "Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune" by Claude Debussy. Also known as "Prelude to the Afternoon of the Faun". :) Another great cartoon version of this is at watch?v=YRwIrZ1NSiQ

  • @Mocharedcutie L'Après-midi d'un Faune

  • This has to got to be one of the most, if not the most, beautiful piece of animation I have seen in a long time.

  • Osamu Tezuka was a raving genius. This film is absolutely touching, too.

  • I'm so glad I have the Unico films as well as Kimba the White Lion. Tezuka is amazing!

  • Beautiful and touching. Thanks so much for the upload!

  • When I was reading Phoenix:The Book Of The Future, this music was always in my mind...

  • Thank you for the Tezuka uploads. So rare to see the noncommercial Japan classics.

  • Decades before Ron Howard's "Splash".

  • That was sweet.

Funny to think his studio was making this on the side while Astro Boy was still being pumped out...

  • i wonder what was going on at 5:39....

  • Conditioned response. When he saw the image of the mermaid, he laughed automatically.

  • Comment removed

  • Aversion therapy.

  • Yeah, Tezuka always enjoyed making these nifty little shorts to experiment with animation.

  • so did HE turn into a merman at the end?

  • tesuka is a monster!!!

  • How so?

  • its just a sayin like saying hes a genious

  • Masterpiece!

  • Awesome,thanks for upload!

  • I'd hit it

  • Wow

    That was amazing :)

  • Absolutely beautiful.

  • ;_________; *sniffle*

    This is beautiful...

  • I love Tezuka's work.

  • That was beautiful. It has such a strong meaning to it. The mermaid wa just so pretty too. I loved how the boy wouldn't despair and kept on believing it was a mermaid :).

  • @yippedoodah you fucking retard, let's spoil shit. die in a fire.

  • @AnalniRovokopac Sorry. You didn't have to read this comment....

  • @yippedoodah i was over the line. sorry for being rude. i was just pissed.
