  • Yes it was.

  • this wasnt the inaugural was it?

  • I have a ticket on this flight to and from Moscow in July. I am traveling to and from Russia for the solar eclipse in Novosibersk on August 1, 2008. I hope the flight is as luxurious as all the hype makes it out to be.

  • So how did it go?

  • It was a loveely flight both ways. The seats were comfortable in Economy Class, the cabin service was impeccable, the food was plentiful and more than acceptable for airplane food, and the array of choices on the inflight entertainment system was seemingly endless. I watched Juno going over to Moscow, and Kung-Fu Panda on the way back. They even have an onboard PC that you can use by plugging in your USB Jump Drive. Highly recommended.

  • I might add that the flight from IAH to DME was about 12 hours in each direction. The arrival in the evening at 18:15 was just in time to get to the hotel and jump into bed at midnight. The return flight from DEM to IAH now leaves at 10:30 in the morning, arrive IAH around 2:00 pm. Plenty of time for arranging a connecting flight, and much better option than spending the night in IAH airport for next day connection, as originally scheduled. The flight was very full both directions.

  • Did you fly to Singapore or you finished in Moscow?

  • I flew from Houston to Moscow for a week in Russia. From Moscow, flew on S7 to Irkutsk and then rode the trans-Siperian Express back to Novosibirsk to view the August 1 2008. Flew S7 back to Moscow, and from there returned on Singapore back to Houston. 1 full week in Russia. But I did not continue on to Singapore. Maybe another time.

It was a great trip, and Singapore Air was a great experience. I have been spoiled for travel on other airlines..

  • When you flew from Houston to Moscow with Singapore Airlines, you had a Boeing 777-300. But me I would like to know when you flew with S7 Airlines what kind of aircraft did you have?

  • I believe it was an Airbus 340. The service was quite good both ways. The meals were interesting in a Russian sort of way, including smoked salmon and sour cream. The airport at Irkutsk was a bit sparse, but the one in Novosibirsk was quite modern.

  • No It was on Il-86 but Singapore Airlines have a better service than S7.

  • IOn this particular case, it was an Airbus 340, NOT an IL-86. Although it is true, S7 does fly some of those.

  • A momentous occasion indeed!

  • cool!
