  • The Best They were at this time period.Raw & Hungary!!!

  • rock at it's best here, can't get much better than this...

  • what a way to make a living!

  • @equinomerodsi Your father's playing on Bridge of Sighs was one of my biggest influences as a drummer. He was a very musical and tasty drummer who made beautiful use of space between the notes. "In This Place" is a haunting and telling tribute to your father's drumming, one that teaches a great deal about how to play the drums.

  • Gotta be the best thing ever to have footage like this to remember your Dad! They were amazing....

  • If Jimi was to be a drummer he aspire to be like Reg. Simply awesome!

  • Great musicians !

  • WOW awsome drumming man..

  • Reg Isidore chewing gum while killing it on drums.....what a man my friends ! And I agree about the Mitchell with muscles part !! He should get a proper recognition !

  • fukin rock drummer

    ya baby

  • best concert-ending song I have ever heard.

  • @ dockie 1964 - I agree totally!!

  • Regi Isadore was FANTASTIC he did not get the recognition he deserved for sure even Robin has gone on record to say the best band sound he had was with Regi

I like to think of Regi as Mitch Mitchell with muscle an Mitch was brilliant!! Also what a wicked backbeat!!

  • The best Trower lineup EVER..

  • Great video!

  • Wow.Very sorry to that about Reg...I am still stoked on his great playing.

A nice /rare video documentation. Those were the days!

  • JUST ABSOLUTLEY SUPERB!!! RIP REG AND JIMMY,AND LONG LIVE ROBIN

  • I saw Trower in '77 in Jacksonville Florida. Dewar was only doing vocals in this concert, they had another guy playing bass.

BTW, always count the microdot :-) one of the guys with us freaked out and took all his clothes off, he thought Trower was the devil .... what a trip

  • @khote14 Haha Check my tounge dude..Is it there?

  • That ending note was a song in it self !!!!!!!! They looked like they enjoyed playing, that 's hard to find in bands these days...... rockon.

  • Great tone!

  • this was nothing, compared to paramount in seattle summer of 73! he rocked the place like no other, ever has, or ever will! feel sorry for all these kids nowdays who will never get to experience the energy like that!

  • Oh where have all the great drummers gone... Nowhere can you see such power and grace, in that they each, Robin, Reg & James, compliment each other so completely... Go see Robin while you still can.... He has gotten better, if at all possible...!

  • Saw them in 1975 at the Wembley Empire Pool. 5th of March !! I remember it to this day. I was 15. It was the first gig I'd ever been to. It was awesome, And Robin got perfect feedback in the bit at the end of Daydream. That was Robin, Jimmy and Bill. But I have to say one of the best things I've ever heard was a live version of Alathea. Reg Isidore did what has to be my favourite drum solo of all time, live. AND stays perfectly within the Rythym. Haven't managed to find it on You Tube yet :)

  • Keith Moon aint got nothin' on Reg. Awesome playing

  • I loved Reg Isadore's playing and am sorry to hear of his passing. Was lucky to see him several times with Robin at The Whisky in Los Angeles.

  • very sorry about Reg. I never knew that he was the original drummer till now. what a talent.RIP.

  • equinomerodsi, to be able to see your father in vid like this,,,,,totally awesome.

  • this drummer fuckin rocks with robin,,,damn good

  • R.I.P Reg

  • Wow! Saw these guys in like 76 in Chicago. Lot of memories. Never gets old. Thanks for the post. Jim

  • does anyone know where the video of too rolling stoned is with Reg Isidore drumming?

  • And another thing...it's no wonder Trower tends to keep the guys he plays with for a long time. An opposite example would be Kim Simmonds of Savoy Brown. Can't keep a band to save his life cuz he's hard to work with, but Trower never seemed to have that trouble, did he? Amazing musician and all-around nice guy....

  • Gawdamm amazing! I never get tired of it. Reg Isadore is a beast! I mean, really, the guy can pound it out. Trower is...is awesome, of course, but take Dewar's vocals and not-too-shabby bass playing and these guys sddn't need anything else. 3 guys playing with the thick, syrupy, slow-cooking-your-ass density of Hendrix, unmatched by 99.9% of their contemporary peers, and their peers blow away 99.9% of the crap that's heard today.

  • LOVE THE FOOTAGE IN THIS ONE, MY FAV. FOR SURE!

  • This level of musicianship is a lost art form

  • @COLTRANELOVESUPREME This level of musicianship is still around, just few and far between.

Holy hell Reggie was awesome. Saw these guys many times during this early era of Robins solo career but back then wasn't close enough to see their faces. Looks like Reg and Robin enjoyed working with each other as much as we all enjoyed hearing them play.

  • I had forgotten what an asskickin drummer Reg Isadore is

  • @luridplanet He is a phenom!

  • The Drummer Is Fukin Amazing

  • Trower is still playing awesome ..why wont Clapton invite him and Anson Funderburgh to play Crossroads is beyond me ....Ronnie Earl as well ....Trower has always been one of my favorites I have never seen him give a bad show ..or play half hearted ...one night I saw him play a kinda small crowd in the bad years he still tore it up !!!...and he is such a class act .....and he is in my top 3 favorites ..

  • Thanks to siroen for posting these three live videos. Trower and his band stood apart from the crowd in the early to mid 70's. RIP Jimmy Dewar (stroke) and Reg Isidore (heart attack). Phenomenal musicians, all!

  • @QAPete dewar didnt have a stroke pneumonia is wat killed him in 02

  • @ninjaman467 He had some kind of botched surgery years before that finally took its toll.

  • @ninjaman467 Thanks, man, I was aware of that, but I think it was all related to what happened to him years ago, as slupdawg mentioned.

It's great that so many people today are still tuned in to what these three great musicians did nearly 40 years ago!

  • If you play the drums like Reg is doing, you don't need to exercise because you know he is getting a fine overall workout.

  • Spectacular!

  • In my mind as a musician Jimmy Dewar has been terribly underated as a singer and how about Reg Isadore - what a monster on drums! This guys drums made BOS and Twice Removed From Yesterday the classics they are......

  • hendrix, trower and vaughan were the three awesome in their OWN right.

  • ANY VERSION OF THESE FRENCH SHOWS NOT CUT IN HALF?

  • I'll take he hate...Trower was better than Stevie Ray at his time..common' 1973 ?

  • PPerfect guitar duet that I would like to see. Robin Trower and Hendrix playing this song.

  • ...I love James here, same as usual for him, he models robin's playing into another great tune, and reg beats it out

  • That was the best video I ever saw of RT and his Band - Super

  • Monique, you should be super proud, this is wicked.

  • Jimmy Dewar or Steve Marriott? Tough call.

  • @bazza1966 Dewar for sure !

  • at the risk of being controversial I say Marriott

  • Jimmy's my vote...

  • @bazza1966 Dewar's got my vote hands down.

  • @spacelooper I don't have any other in mind when I think of the best voice for these songs. I skip no tracks when Trower is in for the guitar and the voice.

  • @bazza1966 Dewar!

  • beastly

  • Great stuff!! I can't believe we have this footage of Robin in the very early solo years. I saw him in 74 or early 75 in Germany. Oh to turn back time...thanks for posting this.

  • Amazing drummer Reg. He probably suffered from an enlarged heart which is a common among athletes. And reg was buff. RIP Reg!

  • Reg = Monster drummer!

  • Never seen this before,absolutely brilliant stuff.Thanks

  • Why are the cutting out the best parts of this concert?? I hate that.......this is a GREAT performance that needs to be seen in its entirety.

  • i never really realized it before but Reggie was one smokin drummer, he shows it here. RIP

  • RIP Reg, "What a drummer! " dad used to say, Lisa Dewar.

  • 'What a singer' your dad was, so soulful and yet powerful.

    He will never be bettered.

  • Neat stuff. Your father wasn't too shabby a musician back in the day either!

  • fumun' breu at 0:11 babylon stuff

  • reg gets down on the drums here , i just wish he would of stayed with robin

  • Reg Isidore is my dad and he rocks! Unfortunately he died of a massive heart attack on 22nd of march 2009 and will be sadly missed!!

  • My condolences to you for your loss!

  • Your Dad was an amazing drummer ,he lives forever in the hearts of his fans .

  • reg was my uncle and i miss him so much. everytime i watch this it gets me going. but just shows how amazing he was and still was. hope ur ok :) need to find this video to download !! dnt wanna loose it.

  • Your dad was my fave Trower drummer .. since I bought Twice Removed from yesterday about 32 years ago.

  • That is so sad, I am so sorry. I also am a drummer and I loved your dads playing with Trower.

Reg and James are truly missed in my heart.

I'd love to know what other recordings your dad was on? Blessings, Bam

  • :o) He was with Peter Green (in the skies)also KOLORS a live compilation (o: He was on Truce .When He first left Trower He was with Peter Green. He wasnt My Dad just helping out.

  • Thank you kindly for the information, much appreciated.

  • I worked for Chrysalis and toured with your father I thoroughly enjoyed his drumming best of the drummers Robin played with,he had great energy and drove the band.Sorry for your loss.

  • @equinomerodsi Sorry about your Dad,Man.I love his drum playing. Do you play drums ?

  • @equinomerodsi

I was so sad when I found that out last year......I am very sorry for your loss.

  • @equinomerodsi GOD BLESS REG ISIDORE!!!!!DAMN GOOD DRUMMER

  • @equinomerodsi

We will always miss and love Mr. Isadore......this is the best group of people robin has ever had.Reg Isadore on drums,James Dewar on vocals .....Robin Trower on guitar...

Reg is flawless and he seems to just fly effortlessly..the power is absolutely amazing...perfect timing...He's one of the world great drummers.

    Pcz and love

  • @equinomerodsi you must be a beautifull person then..all that energy! guessing you have learned well then?

  • @equinomerodsi .. yes he will be. He and Jimmy are makin' music now .. a re-union of sorts

  • @equinomerodsi So sorry that you, and we, lost your dad. I hope you inherited his musical talent.

    lisakpt

  • @equinomerodsi My Birthday! Sad loss! A great drummer!

  • @equinomerodsi

Yes, your dad rocks forever... on the internet..... brilliant. I saw one of the original Trower trio gigs in 1972/3... it was an amazing experience for a kid who wanted to sing and play to see incredible exponents... I didn't end up a fantastic drummer like your dad, but I did end up as a singer/bass player in working bands for a long time... still now actually...just home from a gig!! Sorry to hear to hear he died. A craftsman.

  • @equinomerodsi I've never heard about your father earlier but as I saw this record I thougt I'll send the link immediately to a friend of mine (a drummer) because your father hit his drums so extremely cool! I like so much the drummers who play so hard and sounds so well! Sorry to hear about his death. RIP! My father is a drummer too... but not on this level :) And... sorry for my bad english...

  • @equinomerodsi: One of the beautiful things about recording your music is that you kind of live on...

Your pops knew how to rock. I hope he was happy at the end.

  • I Can't Stand It! Great-!

  • An amazing set !!! Robin,Jim and Reg take a back seat to no one!!! Thanx for posting !!!!

  • To Cldfsn0200

Okay so you have Robin number 15? Well, that's simply just YOUR OPINION and has absolutely no bearing on my reality - besides who cares what your opinion is!! If I want a history lesson on rock guitar players I'll ask for it - what makes you the authority?? Don't waste Internet bandwidth with your feeble opinions! Thanks...

  • Reggie Isadore is dead...Long Live Reggie Isidore!

    Joe Jammer

  • yes he is dead!!He is my father and my kids grandfather.he is the best ever and we will miss him and we love him very much.Rock on in heaven papa!!!We love you

  • Reggie was my drummer when I started The Olympic Runners, and he was the original drummer in my rock band Nobody's Business, and he played drums on my first solo album Bad News along with many, many other sessions and gigs and tv shows. I will miss him...

    Joe Jammer

  • based on style, feel, emotion, tone, creativity, uniqueness, appeal; 1) Duane Allman (listen and weep) 2) Hendrix (creative, innovative) 3) Santana (style, feel unique) 4) Page (creative, appealingl) 5) Beck ("Blow By Blow" lp best work) 6) Clapton (best playing ever was w/Duane) 7) Trower (underrated, speed, feel) 8) West (emotion, feel to the hilt) 9) Betts (2nd fiddle to Duane but few others) 10) Thunders (originator of punk guitar, unique) 11) Slash (speed, style and feel)
  • 1) Hendrix- Extreme originality - Real Voodoo in his hands? Remarkable Speed and phrasing- possessed.

    2) SRV- Took the Texas sound to a new level Fusing Acid Rock to Texas Blues. A prodigy guitar player and student of guitar players made him a genius

    3) Santana- One of a kind sound- smooth silky leads that have remarkable resonance. Fused latin to classic rock

    4) Duane Allman- soft intonation with remarkable dexterity. Spiritual Bluezy rock to another plain- Space- ial tone

    5) Steve Morse

  • 5) Steve Morse- Played the guitar like the greatest ever violin maestro. Perhaps the most unappreciated guitar player of all time despite being name Guitar player of the year by Guitar player Magazine. Quick, punchy, precise and innovative. (See Dixie Dregs Take It Off The Top)

    6) Michael Hedges- Only guitar player who could make 1 guitar sound like it is 2 or 3 playing simultaneously (need I say more) (See Buffalo Stance and Aerial Boundaries)

    7) BB King- Clean pronounced phrasing

  • 8) Robben Ford- Guitar prodigy turns master. Soulful quick blues with astounding bright mid tones. Amazing combination of precision/soul without losing soulful quality.

    12) Leslie West- Raw emotion. True Rocker genius

    13) The Edge- Simple rifts and innovative tone carved a new niche in rock music that hasn't stopped carving for 25 years

    Understands reverb like few have.

    14) David Gilmour- Sonic Experimentation, progressive raw energy

perfect blend of reverb and overdrive

    15) Robin Trower

  • Your ass is out

  • Your ass is out!

  • the drummer is killer! these guys are top shelf talent!

  • Drummer is the most talent of all by far. And that is coming from a Robin Trower fan and guitar player. This drummer is to this band what Bono is to U2. Take them away and the music falls flat on its ass.

  • thanks for your great comments about my dad.He died Sunday and we will miss him so much.Me and my kids have his music to remember though. Thank you

  • Wow ... do you mean the drummer is your dad? What is his name? Wow!!! If that is the case I wrote that the day he died! Well I really meant what I said. Been listening to RT for about 33 years. If you step back and really listen with an objective ear the thing that stands out about his music is the drummer. I mean its always been to me 50% of the music is the drums and then its 25% RT and 25% bass. Thats what I mean by what I said. This music wouldn't stand up without the drums!!!

  • Comment removed

  • great footage. love the sound of robins. i can hear the e.h. big muff pi!! i use to use one back in the day. he sure makes the strat sound like it should.

  • 0:11 dope smokers!

  • reg got down , drum on

  • The first concert I ever went to was in 1973 in Houston,Tx. I was 15. I went to see a band I really liked - Ten Years After. Tickets were $5. There were 2 other bands on the ticket - Elf and Robin Trower. I had no idea who they were. Elf opened and I don't remember them. Come to think of it, I don't remember Ten Years After, either. Trower was 2nd up, and I will never forget it. Amazing the 1st time I heard him, and amazing now, if your lucky enough to catch his show.

  • yes so the economics of touring back then, (despite the alleged energy crisis), allowed one to see 3 and 4 bands on one bill for around 5$. I saw RT many times with so many different bands. It was always good. By the way Elf was the band that Ronnie James Dio was in prior to being picked for Blackmore's Rainbow.

  • I may catch some flack, but as a bass player, it seems to me that Isidore rushed some and didn't give Dewar much space for his beautiful and subtle bass lines. When Lordan came along, he allowed Dewar this space, which is really important for a bass player--especially one who sings.

  • I liked Lordan also. Reg is great but he does seem a wee bit rushed here although Reg (or the sound man) could have turned up his bass a bit. That may be the true culprit.

  • Absolutely Great!! Does anyone know what happend to the Drummer>> He is fab!!

  • ngfjfjyjtyjyjy: Jimes Dewar died from complications following a stroke caused by anesthesia during surgery. He lived for several years after the incident, but was wheelchair bound. A real shame, tremendous talent. Reg Isadore in my opinion was perhaps the greatest rock drummer ever, Trowers playing speakes for itself.

  • gee, I wonder why he was called the "white hendrix?"

  • This is why YT is such a great forum, thx for posting this!

  • That just made my testies all warm n fuzzy

  • gee, mine always feel warm and fuzzy.

but if this really is a new sensation for you, make sure your dog isn't licking them under your desk. i jest, my friend. all in good fun...

  • You know I think you better see a doctor about that, mine are only warm and fuzzy %27 of the time... sounds like your body is producing way to much semen man... either that or your just whacking to much

  • isidore/dewar had their differences and ultimately the challenge for the two of them turned into awesome music. if they would have gotten along, who knows the music may have not been what it was.i love this thanks for posting.

  • Anyone knows of a live version / video of "In this place"???

  • I know James Dewar passed away, but how may I ask.

  • Guitarest GOD.....

Born to Play the Strat !!!!!

  • Sorry I am a new Robin Trower fan, but I think his music is INCREDIBLE.

Can someone tell me the names of these songs please? I need to own them.

  • OK, first up is a fairly short version of 'I Can't Stand It' from the album 'Twice Removed From Yesterday' followed by 'Little Bit Of Sympathy' from the album 'Bridge Of Sighs'.

    Buy them immediately!! LOL

  • Regarding Reg Isidore, I don't think drugs were a problem, although apparently he drank a a lot. He had a phobia of flying and, more importantly, stage nerves in front of a large audience. And his free energy in drums frustrated Dewer, who wanted a solid floor behind his fantastic vocals. Trower is quoted as saying that the isidore/Dewer band is his favorite band memory.

  • Its a fantastic energy he's a fantastic drummer I can see why he'd be suspected of drugs though..keepin that pace up wud've been hard. Its a perfect trio a definative Trower sound

  • Cool xshowdaddy...I'll have to remember that one and start using it. "Music is color blind"

  • I was the only black guy in the Mahagony Rush concert and I'd probably be the only one if I went to see him, but when it comes to music, there is no color. I'd love to see him live. Gonna try and find when he's coming my way here in SW Louisiana or close to it

  • Amen my brother! I saw Trower last night here in Royal Oak, Michigan!! Your right I didn't see one black person that I noticed...then again, it would not have mattered!!! Great point!!!! Music is color blind. That should be a slogan!!!!!

    PEACE

  • @gbrown4x4 hey u know something people im not black but theres a whole lots of times i wish i can say im not white,

  • @gbrown4x4 You've got great taste. Since I'm and Afrikan I do know how ya feel. Back in the the 70's you couldn't throw and Afrikan at Hendrix. Blk folks can be real backward sometimes about their own music. Trower and Dewar were the best of the best after cream.

  • Anyone know what happend to Reg Isidore?

He's rushing these songs. You can see Jimmy and Robin at times struggling with the speed, lyricly and otherwise. Did Reg drink, drugs?

The shit is just too fast. I 'suspect' it might be the reason Trower got Lordan, who is solid with the time.

    Anyone know the truth?

  • Maybe just a bit of adrenaline - I loved Isidores groove and feel.

  • that drummer lays the beat down on noobs.

  • Wow. I'm really digging Reg Isadore in this clip. Classic "Dewar, classic Trower...great stuff.

  • Saw him last week in Seattle. A totally amazing performance. Lots of guitarists in the audience, all of us in a daze watching and listening. He looks much older, of course, but hasn't slowed down on the fret board. Very loud. Amazing variety of tones. Excellent back up and vocals. See him if you can.

  • That's good to hear! You helped seal a decision to go see him in Pittsburgh later this month. Thanks for the input. Anyone else with any good input?

  • I don't remember what year I saw him, (Royal Oak, Mi, late 80's), but it still stands as the best concert I've seen to date.

  • ok, I saw him last night in Phila, 3/12/08. He absolutely smoked! Best I've seen him ...and I've seen him 4 times over the years. DO NOT MISS!

  • Thanks....can't wait to catch the show in Pittsburgh

  • does anyone know how i can find his play dates

  • Saw Trower last night (Royal Oak, Mi). Awesome show!!!!!!!

    PEACE

  • Just a thought, maybe they're alive today from being labeled as "Jimi clones"! ;-)

In any event, I think we all agreee that all 3 rock!

  • Just some thoughts, to me... it's a shame that legends like Trower and Frank Marino got labeled as "Hendrix Clones" We all love Jimi, and he's my home town hero here in Seattle, but for damn sake the critics were soooo wrong back then. Thank you posters and YT for all of the great RT stuff...

  • great pics of Dewar bass finger'n & great side view of Isidore's drumm'n. i never knew der waz film dis power trio aval anywhere, thank U so much fer da vid!=0)

  • Brilliant,like Jimmy Hendrix.......

  • I saw Robin back in 75-76,Great shows. He needs to be in the Rock Hall of Fame !!!

Not long ago I turned on of my sons young friend on to Trower,he freaked out(like I did when I first heard Robin)and told all his buddies.Thay love it.Its nice to be able to turn on The younger gen to this Great Band.

    RIP..J.D.

  • That's absolutely fantastic! The music is such crap now, I wish there was more of that going on!

  • Robin Trower is the holy ghost to the guitar god, Jimi Hendrix. Reg Isadore played more like Corky Laing than Mitch Mitchell, but he was a powerhouse drummer in his own right.

  • iz. Not even Steve Gaines would consider that a compliment. Believe me, if Steve were alive today, he'd call you a t**t for saying something like that!!! BTW.. Steve Gaines was the lead guitarist for LS. Steve was great. Robin was great, many more before and after have been equally great... Guitarists hate it when you compare them!... At least true ones do.

  • Amazing that RT never got any props. Great Guitarist!

  • OH HELL YEAH!!

  • This is by FAR when Robin Trower was at his BEST! Not taking anything away from him...

  • Sounds a lot like the Jimmy Hendrix Experience, but faster! New fan here!

  • Wow great footage....but it seems like all of the songs were in the early stages and not yet refined. Almost like the were just jammin in their garage working out the kinks. But still the magic is there between James and Robin. RIP JD

  • RIP JD amen.

  • This songs , Leads and the drummming is truly

off the scale. whats control and technique

as good as a 3 piece can ever get !!!!! TIMMY D !!!!!!!

  • Dewar and Trower wrote most of their stuff together.......

  • James Dewar is my favorite Blues Rock singer, what a great voice he had.....

  • he sounds like the guy from lynyrd skynyrd to me but more bluesy... i consider that a compliment btw... he is great! did he write the lyrics mostly or robin???

  • damn they kicked ass on a little bit of sympathy. where in the hell is isidore at these days?

  • as much as ur not gunna believe me reg isidore is my uncle and he is in london doing various giggs with his brother. and trust me he is still as gd as he was bk then. everytime i visit him he amazes me with his drumming lol if u got any other questions im sure i cud find them out for u ??? hope tht answers ur question :)

  • Hi, I have a whole lot of Questions!!!!!!! Could you ask him about what it was like to hang out with jimmy, and how much of the music/ vocals/bass playing Jimmy came up with himself. Cheers!!

  • Powerful shit. Tell Reg he was by far the best drummer Robin ever had. Such a powerful guy. Would Uncle Reg ever consider touring with Robin again? Robin is doing a tour here in the states in '08. I've already bought my tickets, one of which is for my 13 year old son. I saw Reg many times back in the 70's. I would pay double to see Reg play with Robin again. Not much we can do about DeWar. RIP brother Jim...

  • this was one AWESOME concert! lol :)

  • The only man capable of combining the technique, tone and feel of Hendrix, Bolin and Kosoff together....tve

For anyone interested, Steve Hillage is definiely another to explore.....
