By the way, I'm Catholic and this band is something interesting (nothing like sacred music, Gregorian Chants and Polyphony are the best, but I like some metal genres; an atheist friend of mine says that the best composers have been Catholic, she's well educated in music too).

@kozall Antestor doesn't technically consider themselves black metal but sorrow metal. I think it takes some open mindedness to accept that bands will do what they do and people will follow them for it. For a spiritual perspective, God does have very odd ways of getting his way across.

@kozall I understand where you are coming from and it makes sense. I would think that it has to do with taste. I think the image plays a type of metaphor to particular ideas. For example, Antestor looks at a darker side of Christianity because there are aspect that are not jumpy and joyful such as pain, and "taking up your cross" so to speak. To personify these concepts, Antestor appears dark and evil. People like this image and message because some people are darker spirited than others.

The people i meet that call themselves christians are those self confident, ignorant, cocky, patronising ones, at least most of them, sorry to say. But i guess everything isnt all black and white, not even for christians. Grey is a nice colour too, but it often takes the discussions much deeper. But, i can´t deny, that the symphonic unblack metal of Antestor is awesome, this song is one of favourites of the sympho. black metal, and this is album is sooo fucking great!
It's difficult to accept a band like this in the extreme metal genre, but, im a freethinker and can be place in metal for christians...

By the way, I'm Catholic and this band is something interesting (nothing like sacred music, Gregorian Chants and Polyphony are the best, but I like some metal genres; an atheist friend of mine says that the best composers have been Catholic, she's well educated in music too).

Some actually see Christianity as the evil part in this war. And BM is a genre where it isnt all about the music. So copying the whole genre with music and corpespaint but singing about the absolute opposit is to me nothing more than hypocrisy. Something that seems to be very popular amongs "church-goers".

@kozall Antestor doesn't technically consider themselves black metal but sorrow metal. I think it takes some open mindedness to accept that bands will do what they do and people will follow them for it. For a spiritual perspective, God does have very odd ways of getting his way across.

And if you take the music, corpepaint and style but sings about Christianity as if it is something positive, contrary to BM where they usually have a anti-christianic/satanic lyrics, then i think its nothing but a complete rip-off and very pathetic. @kozall Yes, I agree the band took from other bands...just like how bands took from Maiden and Metallica during their best eras. Heck, there are bands that sing about the same stuff and sounds exactly alike. If you want to interpret what Antestor does as poserish and that it's fake, then ok, that's your opinion and I respect that. Regardless, however, they have a message and there are those that like that message.

@kozall I understand where you are coming from and it makes sense. I would think that it has to do with taste. I think the image plays a type of metaphor to particular ideas. For example, Antestor looks at a darker side of Christianity because there are aspect that are not jumpy and joyful such as pain, and "taking up your cross" so to speak. To personify these concepts, Antestor appears dark and evil. People like this image and message because some people are darker spirited than others.

The people i meet that call themselves christians are those self confident, ignorant, cocky, patronising ones, at least most of them, sorry to say. But i guess everything isnt all black and white, not even for christians. Grey is a nice colour too, but it often takes the discussions much deeper. Maybe i should take the time and read up on their lyrics, maybe i can learn a thing or two.

And it is not only christians that lack respect, too many in this world do that, im afraid. I struggle with the same issues myself, trying to be a "better" man, trying not to judge others, but without being indifferent. We all have flaws, some chose to ignore them, some try to do something about them.
