I think I may have the anime-accurate book with the tarot cards, though not the little Sealing Wand key thing, booklet, or trading cards. I found it at some sort of garage sale a few years ago, I only really got it because it looked cool, since I haven't watched Cardcaptors. I don't remember where I put them, though. The book at least looks similar to what I have, clasp and all. Though I think mine's clasp actually somewhat works.

sir i have a question, i have a clow book and its similar to the one you have, not the "detailed" one but the one that has jap writing under the card name. but mine doesnt have that. on the back of the book it has c clamp. c for copyright im guessing. i bought this A LONG time ago back in like 2001-02 (i was 12) is mine authentic? and the book has that litte clamp to close the book and the fabric flap

@LaucaMeiFayrechild The book released in America was slightly different than this one. As I told MyMyBecca, the cards didn't have the Japanese writing. Other than that the cards are identical to the ones in the video and the book has very minor differences to the one released in Japan (if I remember right, the book might have been slightly larger and had brighter colors).

I have the American released book and it's practically identical to the one in this video, except for the fact that the cards don't have Japanese writing on them. It was sold as just the book and the cards, no games or charms, if I remember right. It's likely "authentic", but made by a different company than the book in the video, which is why there are differences.
Umm....Okay so I'm not attacking you so don't take this wrong, but the reason that there are differences between the older and newer set is that the older set is manga accurate while the newer one is anime accurate. They didn't screw up the old one it's just not meant to be like the anime, it's meant to be like the manga. I have both sets. I love the book from the new set but I prefer the older cards so I just keep the old ones in the book

I own the one on the left and some plastic Clow book that is like the one on the right (not sure if it's the same) as well as the Sakura book with all the cards for each. I would pay good money for an incredible quality one (leather bound with left's image detail and metal clips and bindings) with the same quality cards as in the left book. I would seriously pay good money for a heavy book that is true to the "real" thing.
Looks beautiful! If I was a collector, I would track it down in a heartbeat. I'll just have to be content with the American released version. They did pretty well, though Bandai's is definitely superior when I compare it with the one in your review (no surprise there). The sealing staff keychain would be awesome to track down, though.

I have the US version and though I don't believe there is much difference between it and the older Japanese version, I can see the better quality and more genuine features in the Original Japanese version. I want it now. But I mostly want the newer Japanese version. I just wish they kept the Clasp on that one, too.......Good review, sir.

This could also be a result of Sakura shuffling the cards. By looking farther into the books. Most of the time only the front of the Clow Cards are shown. It is usually a rare moment to actually see the back. While it could be the moon was ment to be at the top when CLAMP made the series, through all the mix up I would say it's impossible to lable the moon top or bottom.
When it comes to the back of the Clow Cards the placing of the moon actually doesn't have a KNOWN location. I own all 12 volumes of Cardcaptor Sakura, while I know this information doesn't make it anime acurate it does involve the original artist CLAMP. The back of the first 6 volumes [released between Oct '03 - May '04] you can see the moon at the bottom but if you look in the third volume page 40 - 42 that there is actually no set spot for the moon.

Still I can't believe it, I had no idea what those cards were for at the time, when I was little I just loved collecting cards of any kind for the pictures. This was the last thing I was expecting to see again though! Now I'm motivated to hunt some down! >3
The first clow book, is similar to the official one released by kodansha, the set was designed by clamp and also contained a few pages with information about the cards and its origins and the design is intended to match the manga style and it was a limited edition. About the sign, as you've been told in the manga the moon is intented to be on the bottom right as you can see in the cover of the first volume and even in the rest of the manga story.
I still have one of the Bandai versions when they were released in English. I believe I got it at a Blockbuster a very long time ago. But they are still in great condition, even though I never open it anymore.
you dont have to get so mad because of the Magic Circle bad on the back cause if you look closely when Sakura uses the Clow Cards the Magic Cirlce spins so you dont know the starting position

The Clow ( pronuced like glow ) cards with the purple background are more manga acuracte including the circle as in the manga which came out FIRST the circle is ment to have the moon on the bottom right NOT the top left.

hey actar! I need your advice, there's a Clow card book set with only the cards, the "clow book" it comes with is actually the box, the back has chinese. It is not made from Bandai as the back has Chinese. They mispelled THE VOICE and THE EARTHY, should I get this for $30? what is your take on this set?
I have the american verison its pretty much the same as your new one but I like yours better because the box is made of plastic and the design on the front is a sticker :( but the cards are fine and there is no japenese at the bottom

i have a clow book but im not sure on the set i bought it from because i bought it a good few years ago lol... it is similar to the one you are reviewing however there is no mention of bandai on it. there is however a "(c) CLAMP et al CHINA" on the back and "(c) CLAMP et al" on the back of the cards. the inside is red and does not have the white section on the inside cover. the clamp is also different and the writting on the column is in a gold-like colour. the actual book is also more faded.
there is also no mention of 'trendmaster' on the cover so i dont think it is american. i bought it in the UK so although it might not be it is quite possible that it could be i suppose

I still have one of the Bandai versions when they were released in English. I believe I got it at a Blockbuster a very long time ago. But they are still in great condition, even though I never open it anymore.

you dont have to get so mad because of the Magic Circle bad on the back cause if you look closely when Sakura uses the Clow Cards the Magic Cirlce spins so you dont know the starting position

I have the clow book and clow cards like the set you had except for the the japanese name under neither but I do believe it's over at my mom's but I also damaged the snap with opening and closing a lot

I had a clow book but the book was plastic not shiny cardboard & the cards were really good, but they were sold when I was like 8 :/ then I lost it x_x

i think the detailed one is based on the manga not the anime.... anyways i would rather go for the manga-based one, but my opinion.. i WISH I HAD IT!!! TT_TT

Please do not remove my cooment as I am only trying to help with the correct facts. The Clow ( pronuced like glow ) cards with the purple background are more manga acuracte including the circle as in the manga which came out FIRST the circle is ment to have the moon on the bottom right NOT the top left.

Where do you get the first/older/more realistic Clow Book!!!??? Those cards are more durable and that circle is NOT flipped! I REALLY WANT IT FOR COSPLAY! Please tell me where I can get it or a link would be awesome! I found it on Anime Collectibles for around sixty dollars but it's sold out, PLEASE! Where can I get it? I can only find the BANDAI one!

hey actar! I need your advice, there's a Clow card book set with only the cards, the "clow book" it comes with is actually the box, the back has chinese. It is not made from Bandai as the back has Chinese. They mispelled THE VOICE and THE EARTHY, should I get this for $30? what is your take on this set?

I have the american verison its pretty much the same as your new one but I like yours better because the box is made of plastic and the design on the front is a sticker :( but the cards are fine and there is no japenese at the bottom

i have a clow book but im not sure on the set i bought it from because i bought it a good few years ago lol... it is similar to the one you are reviewing however there is no mention of bandai on it. there is however a "(c) CLAMP et al CHINA" on the back and "(c) CLAMP et al" on the back of the cards. the inside is red and does not have the white section on the inside cover. the clamp is also different and the writting on the column is in a gold-like colour. the actual book is also more faded.

there is also no mention of 'trendmaster' on the cover so i dont think it is american. i bought it in the UK so although it might not be it is quite possible that it could be i suppose
