well, it was actually the ethos of islam at the time to seek knowledge and find answers to questions. It sure as hell wasnt going to happen under the sassanids or the hakhamenshi era, and it didnt. all they thought about was power, and once they had enough, corruption and greed seeped in and forgot that the empire needed sustanence. Iran needed Islam to get back on its feet. under Yazdegerd III Iran was going into self-destruct. if you read islamic texts compared to zoroastrian, you will see.
