Hey man. Great review! I have a killer idea for a review of this phone... I will be getting mine today and I am sort of scared to review it because I don't want to end up reviewing myself out of a phone lol. . . If I get ballsy i'll post it lol. Looks like a tough device! I wish I could just get an Iphone with a case that would adapt it to be this rugged.
I highly recommend this phone. I do tree work and snow plowing and have wrecked many phones by dropping them in freezing cold water and from high up in the trees. I've had the Commando since December and I love it. It's been through hell and it still runs great like the first day I got it.
would anyone recommend this phone over say an iphone or other high end android? i am at college in the mountains. snowboard. rains alot. hike. camp. etc. let me know! thanks
i have this phone, its pretty much legit, i have destroyed many phones when i was a fireman as well as destroyed them by getting them wet, this one litterally i have thrown as hard as humanly possible, dropped, thrown into a lake, froze it in water, left it outside my window for 6 hours in 20 degree weather while it was freezing raining and it still works like a charm, and it runs really fast too, though the battery life sucks, its a small price for the most rugged phone out there =P
@malthazar1111 i always did that with my Casio Rock, but with the touch screen on this, warm water cunfuses the screen making it think your touching it
@booredatwork hi friendss please help me i just bought this phone but i cant find sim card slot please send where is if anyone can send picture i will so happy veyselatr@hotmail.com
So I just ordered this phone for my girlfriend. I originally got her a droid1, she broke her screen, so got her a droid2, she broke that too, and then got her a droid3 and she broke that as well. Tired of spending money on this. This phone better last her for the next 4-5 years.
I have noticed, that the salesman at the Verizon store, do not know to place the cover on the back of the phone correctly, so water will not get in the phone. As with any device going underwater, such as submarine or cellphone, all doors must be closed properly to avoid drowning and sinking to the bottom of the ocean. I have taken my Casio Commando swimming several times, took showers with it several times, wash it when I wash my hands, for the past 2 months, and no abnormal problems.
i got one of those phones i am in the deep south so its good to have and its cool that your doing this review and all but that still is a $450 phone so i would not do all that just to test it.
niceee video, makes me feel much better bout this phone, i have had the rock and boulder and knew how tuff they were, but i was worried that this just wouldnt be able to deal with water like the old ones, sweeeet
poured water on mine in front of my coworkers today one of em thought I was insane his cigarette fell out of his mouth I was lmao. Then when I handed it to my iphone coworker he thought it was a pita cuz screen requires man-pressure instead of office hands to use it
FINALLY someone who puts this rugged phone through it's paces. A telling thing for me was the dryer test. Several other people have dipped the device into the water but have not taken the phone to the extremes you have. It's much appreciated by someone who spends allot of time outside and in rugged environments.
I was wondering if you could do like others did with the old Boulders. Freezing it in a block of ice etc. I'm looking forward to getting my own Commando. Keep up the good work.
@redsurly6 Thank you, Unfortunately, the device was a review unit, so I won't be able to carry out more test with it. But i can tell you I did enjoy the fact I tossed that puppy around and not a scratch. So yeah, if you are an outdoor kind of person. Then the Commando is for you
very amazing review!

is it a little big for a phone? does it sit easily in the hands and pockets or does it look and feel bulky?

hey i gots a question i gotta choose by the commando, droid 3 or thunderbolt tell me which one you think is abosuluty better.
DrewTheGod2 6 months ago
@DrewTheGod2 those are 3 different devices.
if you love the outdoors, swim, surf, & hike a lot then the commando is for you.
Droid 3 has the best keyboard on the Verizon network
The thunderbolt is an LTE android device
So are you looking for something outdoors, need a keyboard or looking for a 4G LTE device
booredatwork 6 months ago
@booredatwork something that is durable and fun to have
DrewTheGod2 6 months ago
@DrewTheGod2 then the commando is the best bet for you, as you can see in the video it can out last a lot plus its running android 2.2 and works well

Hows the speed compared to the iPhone or droid charge, and does the camera work under water?
Rutgerschiefs 9 months ago
@Rutgerschiefs not a 4g device and its ur avrage 3g speed . yes it does film in the pool all the time :D
9nxt 8 months ago
@9nxt 4G is a marketing term anyway. No phone is truly 4G, that would be faster than your home internet, WAY faster!
setbro 7 months ago
@setbro ye but the 4g is a bit faster then 3g and almost as fast as wifi so if u want that bit more speed then yea :D

Should have done a washer test too. Is that even possible? I've never left my phone in my pants to go through the wash, but I know people who have.
