Or how about managing to stay toe to toe with Viral in their ground encounter long enough for Yoko to send Viral running scared? And not to mention how it was Kamina who piloted the Gurren Lagann in every battle up until his death except for one single time and even became Viral's rival. Simon merely acts as a power source except on super attacks when both drivers have to sync up and pilot as one.

@BADCOSPLAY Mate, the only reason the humans are underground is because the anti-spirals are scared of spiral power destroying the universe, lord genome wants to save humans and forces them below ground to control population, kamina is a being of spiral power and one of the things the anti-spirals are scared of. Both he and Simon have some of the largest amounts of spiral power, which is literally just determination and willpower, practically the whole of kamina was determination so there.

Spiral power is awakened when someone has unlocked their potential to see the universe and expand as a race kamina never unlocked spiral power. spiral power causes the eyes to become ... well SPIRALS lol as seen when simon unlocks this and kittan at the end. spiral beings are anyone who are created naturaly but this power has to be awakened as the anti spiral says

All races that can reproduce possess spiral power, it does not need to be awakened, cause it is already represented by drive to accomplish things. Over time, through battle and experiences, spiral power grows, sometimes it grows out of control like it does with Kamina and Simon.

@Naraku9108 Yes this is true but it does need to be awakened to be able to use the vast amount of energy and cuase forced evolution. At the end Simon had such control over it he could have bought kamina back to life like Gimmi said but Simon was wise enough to know not to abuse the power. yes everyone has the spiral power but it needs to be awaked to be able to use it at an extent simon or Lordgenome can kamina did not posses that control even gainax has stated that themselves.

@BADCOSPLAY the point I was making was Kamina did not have the super powered abilities that most anime chracters poses he didnt have simons power and wasnt in a lot of episodes but he made the biggest impact and is one of the best loved chracters.
