@mijboogie well im getting a lg ips226v which although is a ips its response time isn't far from a tn screen anyway, and its contrast ratio and colour accuracy is alot higher
@TheXboxSux I was looking into buying a Dell U2311H monitor, which has budget IPS panels (E-IPS). Should I go for this monitor or do you recommend one with H-IPS panels (for fps, race games and school work)?
Don't let the different model types fool you. The only thing you should really be looking for is an IPS with good response time, contrast ratio, normal color gamut (not wide. Wide sucks), good black levels, 16:10 aspect ratio and decent luminosity.
pchardwarehelp(.com)/guides/s-ips-lcd-list.php
check that link out. An entire list of great IPS monitors for all types of environments. I use the ZR24W. It's a great all round work/play monitor.
And make sure you check out the reviews on any of the monitors that you're interested before you make your purchase. Most of the reviews are very accurate.
@MrUltimateSlayer Old comment, I know, but the 14ms for the NEC is a black-white-black measurement. I'm not sure what you mean with the next question though.
The response time of my camera is low? It's a Sony HD 108p Hard Drive camcorder that cost over $1000. I don't think so. Anyway, for Photoshop, definitely NEC.
@ElektroDragonHD what type of monitor is the NEC? I thought IPS monitors are good for Photoshop because they display color much more better than normal TN monitors do.
I'm still considering to buy Dell U2311H and Samsung PX2370. I heard someone said Dell has a ghosting when you play a game that has a fast moving like Pro Evolution Soccer. It cause of respond time 8 ms that too much. I don't see it by myself, can u test it?
@Luxferer You heard that from a number guy who han't owned the monitor. Theres 0 ghosting in bad company 2 or any game. The Px2370 has a really crappy image compared to the dell.
Hey, thanks for posting. I came so close to getting a LED TN panel but posts like this really gave me an education. The LED TN retail hype is strong. I bought the Dell after reading lots of reviews and it should arrive any day. Can't wait. I'll post an update. Thanks again for your post. Nice job!
I'm planning to buy this NEC... I just want to know how is it for gaming? NO I'm not gonna buy the shitty TN! I want IPS, just want to know if it is acceptable for gaming?
TFTCentral has reviewed both and ViewSonic VP2365wb (it's the third one using the panel). The test results tell they're remarkably close in everything except in response time, which Dell obviously wins with its overdrive. The ViewSonic is the cheapest one but lacks some ergo features which probably explains the lower price too.
I have the NEC. I bought it last year so the Dell wasn't around yet.
@skyninjabot Yes I have, for about an year now. Playable, but I just have to refrain from commenting gaming because I have not played a lot (that's not because of the monitor, I just don't play games anymore that much). I suggest reading TFTCentral's review.
@theneongray2: Just read the review about the 2311 at flatpanelshd. They tested the input lag as very very good. Overall this is an outstanding hq monitor!
Only issue was the fall of contrast in angles. Input lag was tested with an avg. of around 10 ms. Just watch the other movies here on youtube, showing movies!
crysis looks good at 30 fps so it really isn't a good test, as well as that , most people know you need a really powerful graphics card(s) to run it at 60
I don't think you are looking for the right thing...
Bad input lag/response time doesn't cause blur, it causes fragmentation, usually on the outer sides of the monitor when moving fast.
Just use the winamp visualization milkdrop and you will see TONS of fragmenting if you set the fullscreen setting to 60fps. Your eyes should see it fine, but it is hard to capture with a camera because the shutter isn't fast enough, and it usually ends up looking very different.
@ElektroDragonHD I'm seriously torn between EA2312WMi vs Dell U2311h ... The NEC is a NEW model it just came out and it has LED... I will use this for movies, Internet and Games... but I just can't make up my mind.. Dell costs 20.000 yen, NEC 36.000 yen(because it just came out...) I want to again ask you about these two monitors, you really can't say which is better for gaming? I mean they roughly are the same? Sorry for bothering, but I'm stick in front of my Laptops 15 inch monitor and ... /:
@Intz51 I hope you're aware you're trolling, just so you can consciously correct your manners next time. It matters to me because I want to know. This also matters to people who will be choosing between these two displays. The video example doesn't highlight the response time nor the input lag of both displays and ElektroDragon is in the position to answer this question.
Dell is faster. I can clearly see the difference as u move the mouse.

According to tftcentral's reviews, the Dell is better on most things except for input lag. So I've pretty much decided for the u2311h :)

why the fuck does everyone care so much about the response time??!
everything beyond 10ms is not visible at all!
and i've never heard of a monitor that has over 10ms!

what are you doing why moving like crazy left right go play and shoot somebody there is no difference in those monitors :)

I love how people do these blazing fast mouse movements to test monitors out.
As if you're actually going to play a game and zip back and forth that fast to cause ghosting and lag lol.
Get real.
IPS is the way to go period. TN just blows. I'll never go back.

Hello ppl. Can u help me?
I had Viewsonic VP2365wb before (it was broken and I had moneyback)
Now I'd like to buy NEC MultiSync EA232WMi.
Is it black to black-white-black time 14 ms or is it gtg (if it's so - very low)?
Viewsonic had 5 gtg = 14 normal. Is it the same or no? Can't find out.

I've the EA231WMi since october 2009 and it's a fantastic monitor.
Very good in video playback.
I think the Dell U2311H use the same E-IPS panel from LG Display but combined with the overdrive.
The Nec don't have a declared GTG response time, only the black-white-black.
In theory... the Dell is a better choice for gaming and the Nec (due to potential overdrive artifacts) is better for video playback.
