Whats the different does it makes if she still the Queen of Fiji or not... The fact remains we are suspended from the commonwealth...she is irrelavant in our
current situation..everybody knows ..this is a question that we are better off not having being asked at this point of time.....it only attracts some unlogical responds...for the sake of babbling away...pse, we have had enough...
The Fijian head of state and head of government should be determined by the Fijian people via their elected Parliament.
Unfortunately, it's the military that has ultimate control in Fiji at the moment. Once the elected Parliament regains full power, Fiji can rejoin the Commonwealth and the Fijian people can be asked who they'd like to be their head of state. If they want Queen Elizabeth, I'm sure she'd support them. But the restoration of full democracy should come first.
"in 1987 as a nation gave her the boot" not exactly everyone wanted to give her the boot.... my bubu is 87 and still has the whole royal family (without Camila Parker) in frames on the kitchen wall!
I dont get it why the queen of england still the head of state. OK, there is a fijian structure called Bose levu vakaturaga, where the Head chiefs of each province voted n agreed to have the queen as the head of state still. Also, with govt and the various chieftain clan they decided to have a holiday as a queens birthday. Our currency, books, language and style were all adopted by the british way of living and still exists. Long Live the Queen of Fiji and the Pacific :)
