Chanting as an antidote to human problems? Why not? Thanks to Ram Dass for reminding us that part of compassion is allowing others to be as they are as long as they don't do too much harm.
I met the rainbow people after that gathering in the Oregon Peace camp. I was 13 at the time. The law back then didn't fear the Rainbow People like they do now. Violence was dealt with peacefully if possible. And violence was rare. The violence didn't start with Rainbows. Rainbow people are non violent for the most part. The problems started when the law started getting involved. Until then the gatherings were peaceful. The rangers in this one are typical of the times.
This was so much fun to watch!!! Even though I was there, it was such a huge gathering that there were parts I missed seeing....like this one!!! I spent a lot of time washing baby diapers (I only brought 10...duh!)in the icy streams with biodegradable soap that would not dissolve!!!LOL!!! Then hung them on bushes to dry....but it was a "rain forest"...another big...DUH!!! Living in a Tee Pee was yet another experience that was a first for me....with a 10 month old!!!Hahahahaha!!!
om i gosh thank you... i used to have copies of this and other footage in vhs form which i "loaned away".. what came back some years later were blurry dubbings, hard to watch... this is so clean and it's a joy to hear the actual sound of henry fiddler wailin with the washboard on that reel. also a hit to dig rainbow ram dass' impeccable warrior rap again!
The button has been pushed the bombs are on the way, what am I going to do? I'm going to eat the strawberry and savor it.

it's so funny to me that Ram Dass is quoting Don Juan from Castaneda's books. Awesome.
