Very good teacher! but I've to tell you..... in spanish hot is not picante when you are refering about a person it is more used for food, I think the word hot is more similar to "tio bueno" for man "tia buena" for girl. I think it would be great a lesson about english compliments.

It's just an another version of a British expression - Wouldn't touch with a barge-pole. Barge-pole - A large stick or thick bough. Also generally used for any large piece of wood.
