catastophic leaders ...alright.!!!..Nick is spot on with that one....get ready to shoot yourselves......now theyve approved fuckin tazer guns...welcome to NaZI australia!!
good mustache wearers or evil mustache wearers, they all look foolish since mustaches went outta style about 100 years ago.... (yeah they made a little comeback in the 70's but who cares, that happened before I was born. - oh, and i'm aware the early 1900's happened before i was born too so don't bother pointing that out to me. thanks!)
Dark like Death...The silent specter, haunting the corners of your mind. Pulls and Calls. You think you have balls to laugh at death. Realy your foolin your self. Death just sits and similes and watches never saying a word. He waits for you to realize the joke, that your only laughing at your own mortality. Death always has the Aces. You might have a crad or two up your sleve, you may win a few hands but in the end death pulls 4 aces.
thats what hit me the first time i heard this song... :)
This song makes all the hairs on my arms and neck stand on end, which I believe is a symptom of fear. Nick Cave's music scares the shit out of me. And I love it.
hit the streets...don't mean go shoppin', or a bar hoppin', or a dead eyed dipshit nonsense talkin' walkin'...HIT THE STREETS with brain and bloody fuckin' fed up fed up broken hands anger. WE QUIT!!!
And more power to Warren for sure... I love the fact he plays a minature travel stratocaster! I cannot stand guitar snobs! TRUE musicians (like the bad seeds) use whatever serves the tone of the song. Rock on Ellis!
This track took quite a while to land with me. I loved the lyrics (the Lotophagi are probably my favourite bit of Greek mythology), but the melody seemed so out of place on the album.
Part of me still thinks it would be more at home on "From Her To Eternity," beside 'Saint Huck' and Cohen's 'Avalanche'.
I'm also curious why Mick's playing bass here instead of Martyn. I suspect Nick wanted him on every track and this was the only way to work him in here.
Just occasionally a video completely matches my own idea of how a song should "look". I loved this track on first hearing and its by far my favourite on the album. This video is as mesmeric as the song. Aren't we lucky that there are such creative muscians and film directors around to cheer our days.
this to me sounds the most like old school Bad Seeds bass lines in all compared to the rest of the album which is quit different. I love this album though!
I'm not such a huge fan of this song, it's probably my least favourite on the new album because it doesn't really go anywhere. It's far from a bad song I'm just not sure if it deserved a video over call upon the author or today's lesson
some songs...are perfect...!!!!

Hi Radiohock,
The Boatman's Call, if you're also into the softer side of Nick. Or, if you're more into the rougher stuff, go back to his early days.

getting this album, can anyone recommend another one they think is his best?

Nick Cave has two big things.

2. Nostrils.

harddriwe: a 'sap' is a nickname for a blackjack, which is a type of easily hidden club, and a 'heater' is a type of shield.

harddriwe 3 years ago
Don't know about a heater being a shield. Always thought that a heater was a handgun.
Paladin3000 3 years ago
''packing heat'' can be used as a description for carrying a gun. A heater is however, indeed a type of shield.
JackOfRubies 3 years ago
Yep, it is definitely Shield your self. But can you explain what "sap and heater" mean.( English is not my native languag).
