@SCOTTovHX2 lol euro fighter cannot out perform the F-22 and that link don't work and it doesn't matter since its a forum not actual info, the E/F has canards which mean it cannot perform well in supersonic flight due to the damage it will cause and the F-22's thrust vectoring nozzles allow it extreme maneuverability in both sub and supersonic, this day in age with high speed missles you need to move well in supersonic speeds with out the posibility of having your canards rip off.

The f22 is a great plane and is really cool, but i have to say that the russian SU27K's are still better in a dogfight. Still, american pilots are extremely skilled and can utilize their planes a little better than the russian pilots, who are still pretty good. however, a raptor would win in a long range battle due to its stealth capabilities and powerful radar. Which plane is better overall? well never know until they meet in battle.

It reminds me so much about Starscream from the live-action film of Transformers! This this the best plane yet, I've ever witnessed! For those of you who live in California, you may want to visit Travis Air Force Base, which is in northern California, and Edwards Air Force Base, which is in southern California. I believe they do have the F-22 Raptors there.
Got to see one perform for the first time during this past weekends blue angels air show here in Hawaii. It's one thing to see in a video clip but it's a thousand times better seeing it in person. This is the best thing tax payer(s) money can buy!!!

The Russians will have the t-50 in a few years (2015 something like this). I'm not saying it will overtake the f-22, but it will be at least a rival. In this case pilot skill makes the difference.

I was here at the Yokoda base in Japan and had a chance to see a couple F22s and even talked to one of the pilots who flies one of these baaaad mothers.
Anyways, it is true that the cost of F22 is overbloated but that is mainly because the US government drastically cut the quantity ordered from Lockheed Martin. Henceforth, Lockheed Martin divided up the initial research and development cost amongst fewer units - henceforth dramatically increasing the per unit cost.

i dont even understand the point of air superiority fighter jets when we can just build ground-launched missiles that can outrun, outmaneuver, and destroy any airframe that we could ever possibly build. think about it, missiles are the pinnacle of speed, maneuverability and explosive power. We should just be advancing missile and camera technology so that we can just identify the enemy and fire a missile at it.

I already said it, the planes are russian, but they are poorly maintained, poorly crewed and were sold as export versions with equipment which was already crappy at the moment of the purchase and which is now completely outdated. Now oppose that to the technological capability of the Israeli army or to a US carrier group, and you get a 30:0 kill ratio (operation iraqui freedom, i guess). But that certainly wouldn't be the case against the Russians.
Russian fighters were designed to operate as part of Russia's massive defense network, specifically guided by radar stations on the ground aided by SAM sites. Russia had this, export nations didn't. The kill ratio of US jets is irrelevant because the US never faced a like foe. The US and USSR were called superpowers, no one else.
Sadam had the 4th largest military in the world in '91 one, he had Russian sam's and radars too. And most of the F-15's kills are from the tiny nation of Israel, so I don't really see your point?
Iraq had old Russian planes, and a much more limited ADS with older SAM systems. You can't just have the pieces and have everythnig work, they need to be used correctly. Iraq didn't even have any Flankers or Foxhounds. If Russia had invaded Iraq in 1990, it would be no different from Desert Storm.

Stealth is no contest, Russia didn't have it. As for communication and coordination, the USSR was focused on self defense, and there was a lot of force integration in that role (perhaps too much). I can't really extrapolate that into offensive effectiveness, so I won't contest you there. Guided bombs they had, KAB series. Night fighting, I was sure they had the capability, but a quick search brought up nothing, so I could be wrong.

It reminds me so much about Starscream from the live-action film of Transformers! This this the best plane yet, I've ever witnessed! For those of you who live in California, you may want to visit Travis Air Force Base, which is in northern California, and Edwards Air Force Base, which is in southern California. I believe they do have the F-22 Raptors there.

The Russians will have the t-50 in a few years (2015 something like this). I'm not saying it will overtake the f-22, but it will be at least a rival. In this case pilot skill makes the difference.

I was here at the Yokoda base in Japan and had a chance to see a couple F22s and even talked to one of the pilots who flies one of these baaaad mothers.
Anyways, it is true that the cost of F22 is overbloated but that is mainly because the US government drastically cut the quantity ordered from Lockheed Martin. Henceforth, Lockheed Martin divided up the initial research and development cost amongst fewer units - henceforth dramatically increasing the per unit cost.

i dont even understand the point of air superiority fighter jets when we can just build ground-launched missiles that can outrun, outmaneuver, and destroy any airframe that we could ever possibly build. think about it, missiles are the pinnacle of speed, maneuverability and explosive power. We should just be advancing missile and camera technology so that we can just identify the enemy and fire a missile at it.

Don't fool yourself, the only way to achieve that kind of superiority over properly manufactured jets would be to have a whole fleet of F-22s. Same thing about the tanks... I already said it, the planes are russian, but they are poorly maintained, poorly crewed and were sold as export versions with equipment which was already crappy at the moment of the purchase and which is now completely outdated. Now oppose that to the technological capability of the Israeli army or to a US carrier group, and you get a 30:0 kill ratio (operation iraqui freedom, i guess). But that certainly wouldn't be the case against the Russians.

Russian fighters were designed to operate as part of Russia's massive defense network, specifically guided by radar stations on the ground aided by SAM sites. Russia had this, export nations didn't. The kill ratio of US jets is irrelevant because the US never faced a like foe. The US and USSR were called superpowers, no one else.

Iraq had old Russian planes, and a much more limited ADS with older SAM systems. You can't just have the pieces and have everythnig work, they need to be used correctly. Iraq didn't even have any Flankers or Foxhounds. If Russia had invaded Iraq in 1990, it would be no different from Desert Storm.

Stealth is no contest, Russia didn't have it. As for communication and coordination, the USSR was focused on self defense, and there was a lot of force integration in that role (perhaps too much). I can't really extrapolate that into offensive effectiveness, so I won't contest you there. Guided bombs they had, KAB series. Night fighting, I was sure they had the capability, but a quick search brought up nothing, so I could be wrong.

Russia never fought Nazis, the USSR did. Their economy collapsed around 1990, and Russian inherited some percentage of thier military and technology along with a large portion of economic woe. And you say they're more advanced? Nothing against Russia, but they haven't been a stable superpower during the last 20 years. The US has been. Not only that, the Su-35 is better than the Su-37. A lot of people seem assume that one is better because it has a higher number. It's just a canceled prototype. The Su-35 meanwhile evolved into the Su-35 BM, the most advanced Flanker.
