UNLUCKY 13 or LUCKY 13???: "Fairytale" peaked at No. 13 and spent a total of 16 weeks on Billboard's Top 100 in 1974/75, it entered the charts on October 5th, 1974...
{Was it bad luck to have stopped at #13 or good luck that it spent 16 weeks on the charts???}
In 1982 The Pointer Sisters would experience Deja Vu; for their record "Should I Do It" would also peak at No. 13 and also spent 16 weeks in the Top 100.
1 person at the top doesn't like Fairytales. Too bad they didn't have a mom to read them some at bed time, like some of us did. Great country song by the fabulous Pointer Sisters. Thanks for sharing.
When someone asked me to list my all time top 20 favorite songs, I put this on there and they were like...Ummm I've never heard of it....so thanks to Youtube, we're able to say SEE, there it is! LOVE THIS SONG! Love the harmonies, love the melody, love the tune itself....ahhhh this IS music!
I've always liked the Pointer Sisters - such a gracious and harmonious group of ladies. As a bassist at a cowboy church, this song blew me away. I am now a confirmed fan - and hope to hear more of this kind of PS music.
My mom had this on a 45 when I was a kid. Now I can really appreciate what a great song this is, and what great talents the Pointer Sisters are. Also, I really loved their retro look back then!
@Guerrerozimerio Um no. I love me some Elvis, but this is the Pointers song. They wrote it, and sang it like no other. God bless the king, but this version is hard to follow!
Living in the Uk as I do, this historic appearance at the Opry never reached us. it is GREAT song, and for them to perform it there was a daring piece of activism, as well as being a song that country music lovers would be bound to love, whatever the colour of the singers.
I always loved them when they were 4 - 'That's A Plenty' has been a favourite album for many years!
This is nice, I have always wondered about the origins of this track. I am more familiar with Elvis' much faster, shorter; and heavier version, He included in most of his live concerts from 1975 to 1977. Thanks for sharing this video.
correct me if i am wrong but i beleive Aaron is the oldest born in Arkansaw in 1942 followed by Fritz1944, place of birth not covered,both men were very handsome, and talented athletes, then Ruth,1946,Anita 1948, Bonnie, 1950, and june 1952, girls were all born in Oakland C A, but still have relatives in Arkansaw, parents were both from Dixie
Well-written and nice lyrics. Heard Elvis sing it and had to hear the original. Elvis sings it at a faster tempo and changes a few things. Thanks for posting. Good music is hard to come by.
Can not forget those great outfits....

Good work, but the best interpretation will always be Elvis Presley the 19/6/1977 in Omaha.

June is '53, and I thought Frits was '41, and Aaron was born in '39. I'm not a 100% positive about Aaron, but I know i'm right about June and Fritz.
