  • @cinefiles The Reason why Harvey Keitel's Career didnt take Off, was because he was a Big Risk-Taker when picking Roles in the 70's, he was more risk-taking then De Niro, Even Scorsese wanted Harvey to Play the role of "Tom" Played by Albert Brooks but Keitel Resisted & wanted to Play "Sport" eventhough it was a Very Small Role, So other Directors had their Eye on De Niro as he was the Lead

  • the remake to Cape Fear was much better then the origional.

  • Guys I really got to say that Mean Streets is the biggest puke that Scorsese has ever produced, I really don't know how You can appreciate this boring ridiculous movie that has no story bad acting and poor light.

  • Harvey Keitel was not over 30 when he did Who's That Knocking at My Door. he's born in 1939 and they started shooting it in 1965, which means he was 26.

  • This is good guys!! keep it up!

  • Sober chapter! Well dress men , not much insults but still casual and funny. Looking forward to the next ones. I just miss that you guys didn't talk about his short films which are great as well.

    Greetings from Sweden!

  • everyone is dressed so well. Edwin is rocking an awesome undershirt shirt, eric shows he can easily pull of a turtle neck which is hard to do, jeff's hat is unstoppable, and mike's watch is subtle but stylin'

  • what is the opening song ?

  • great show again, boys but how could you faux pas John Lennon for john Hinkley. that´s a big difference

Anyway, looking forward to the next parts (and Jeff´s apparent private show, too)

  • Glad you found these episodes Edwin! I find Scorsese a very interesting director. I have enjoyed alot of his movies and not liked others. There is no doubt he is one of a kind. Very good discussion, I found it funny how you and Eric talk about how Taxi Driver is the closest he did to a horror film, but then he recently did Shutter Island. Keep up the good work you guys!

  • Yes, Yes Yes.... We have a new episode, thank you thy lord.

  • @colemartinst123 Not exactly new, but as NBC used to say: "If You Haven't Seen It, It's New To You".

  • @cinefiles Exactly. More Cinefiles the better. You uploading the other parts soon?

  • @cinefiles can you ask the black guy, what his favorite martin scorsese movie is. because i am facsinated at how much he loves scorsese, he loves scorsese just like him.

  • The man that should have been mentioned is Paul Schrader. Taxi Driver was written by him. He WAS Travis. As Scorsese said Taxi Driver is a movie made by three man: Schrader, DeNiro and himself. But it all started with Schrader.

  • @MartinKoolhoven

    He was mentioned

  • DeNiro did a screentest for the first Godfather as Sonny. He was great, just a little too electric. (look for it on youtube) THAT is what gave him the part in the 2nd one, according to Coppola. Oh and you mentioned Keitel being fired of Apocalypse Now (as he was years later AGAIN with Eyes Wide Shut): why have we never seen any of that footage? Shouldn’t that have been in Hearts of Darkness, the documentary? Probably they didn’t get permission from Keitel.

  • Cool stuff... I was wondering if there's any chance that you guys could do a more arthouse show in the future, like the films of Jean-Luc Godard or Federico Fellini? I'd love to see something along those lines!

Anyway, keep up the good work... the new videos cannot come fast enough.

  • You're wrong about the Star Wars connection to Mean Streets. The politician is named Palantine, not Palpatine.

  • Another great episode, but Michael Foltz's obsession with nudity makes it great!

  • Looking forward to your take on King Of Comedy.

  • awesum newness

  • Isn't the candidate's name Palantine? Not Palpatine. Both are derivations from paladin though with its association of knighthood and honour - in this case probably ironic.

  • Thank you guys y'all are hilarious and insightful.

  • Goodfellas and Taxi Driver still tie for my favorite Scorsese film, with Last Temptation & The Departed following them, but it's hard to ever be critical of a Scorsese movie. Even when they're terrible (Bringing Out The Dead), they still have fascinating elements.

  • Fantastic Episode. Looking forward to the next three parts. I'm glad to hear that Edwin and Eric consider Taxi Driver a horror film.

  • I always wonder why you guys have not done a show on Scorsese now I know why it was worth a 3 year wait

  • Oh my god! just seeing the title made me lose my shit. i haven't even watched it yet.

  • im sorry to do this but.... yay first comment
