I had the chance to have lunch at a Yongsan Military Garrison restaurant in late 1981 as a guest. There was really good fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, giblet corn, ice tea and chocolate and vanilla pudding for dessert. It was December and really cold, it was a nice western meal, something that was kind of hard to find back then I found.
It's surprisingly similar to what you can see now. The market areas are still a lot alike.
I like the clip of your folks... kind of dates the whole thing.
I know that park you were in. I drive by it to go to work every day. Funny thing is there is a huge crowded city surrounding it now. The pan over the Han River shows how sparsely built things were back then.
I didn't realize that Seoul Tower was built back then. I can see it out my bedroom window now.

I was there from 82-83 and my unit was near the golf course on south post. I was with the 305th S&S CO. HAD A great time there
