we had a small dairy farm on the high road between neilston and uplawmoor,i was a member of dunlop yfc in the 70s,therefore i moved in n ayrshire circles.came to canada in 81 managed a purebred holstein herd for 25 yrs i now own and run a small contracting outfit.mainly ploughing roundbaling wrapping and lots of silage hauling and manure spreading.we get 4 to6 cuts of grass per year plus maize kept busy hauling from mid april to mid november.
We have some of those as well. I had a heifer that kicked the unit off twice every day for 10 month ! Now she never kicks and is one of the best milkers
Whats a heifer because i thought it was a cow before it had a baby but you said you had a heifer kick of the unit therefore she must have been milking?

Smoke is from a log fire in a small cottage in the middle of the woods. btw she also keeps 2 horses in a paddock next to her cottage
