  • Funnily enough I worked on the movie in the art department & I've still haven't seen the film, even though I grew up in the glam period... And this sort of tells me why.

Do yourselves a favour & have a listen to Eno doing this number with Phil Manzenera, this is preety lame & just too much of an outright copy of the original.

  • @nackkers

As much as I agree that its a complete copy, I have to say I much prefer this guys voice. I do love Brian Eno, but this one has a bit more triumpth to my heart.

  • @12Maat21

I'll give you that & maybe I shouldn't be critizing what a new generation is getting in to?.. Anyway, all these years on I'm glad you young guys are seeing some quality in this stuff... It's a shame you wern't around in the 70's, you'd have got the full effect!!!

    Peace man.

PS. Do you know what this sound is about?

  • @nackkers

Yeah, Its a dead right shame.

I would have actually been in my element in the 70s and 80s.

I think I was born waayy to late.

I guess this sound is really about anything you want it to be. I mainly concern it with being who you want to me.

  • @12Maat21 Baby's on fire sounds like pretty much anything it want's to be?.. It sounds cool!.. It's actually about one of the most famous Vietnam war photos, the one with the little napalmed girl running with her clothes burnt off. The photographers were more interested in getting 'the money shots' rather than running to the aid of the victims!.. Eno was taking the mickky out of them... He's good at that sort of thing!

  • @nackkers You know, I never gave much thought into the lyrics, But just glancing over them and reading them. They were so powerful.

  • @nackkers The original is Eno & Fripp.

  • @nackkers The original guitar solo was Robert Fripp, not Phil Manzanera

  • @notionpollution I know, I just said check out the version with Phil Manzenara.

  • @Wotchascamp Same. It's very startling now.

  • hm. looove this song. havent seen the movie yet. am planning to. but, im sorry. am in love with ewan. nothing will change my mind.

  • @beatlesperson42 you must see this movie! it's his 3rd best preformance in my opinion (first young adam, then i love you phillip morris)

  • fucking love this song :)

  • I think I like this version better than Brian Eno's....... :O

  • it's funny when christian bale got caught jerkin off in this movie

  • does anyone know where i can find the lyrics to this song?

  • look up eno - baby's on fire lyrics

  • ok thanks

  • Can't post any links here, but there are a lot of song lyrics sites. Just google "Baby's On Fire" lyrics "Velvet Goldmine."

  • funny song and wonderful movie

  • which film? sorry xD

  • ..velvet goldmine?

  • can't get enough of this song <3

  • Omfg..! I love it, love it, love it! :D

  • Brian Eno is fucking ace, and this is actually a great cover. Wouldn't have thought a decent cover of this song was even possible.

    Fantastic movie, as well.

  • Before I saw the movie my friend show me this song and I didn't like it at all but now... I LOVE IT

  • to lordilover: i would probably be the same way...

i don't usually like music like this, but fortunately, i saw the movie segment first, so now i'm in love :)

  • @lordilover4ever you're still a cunt

  • @lordilover4ever I love this, as whenever I listen to it all I see is JRM being all sexxi as hell with Ewan on stage. xD That's like my fave bit (after the kiss of course).
